Post LED/Smoked Taillight Advice

I would like to change out the tail lights in my Cobalt to be smoked and was considering LED. What brand/type of tail lights do you have, or would you recommend?

Be aware that smoked rears are not DOT legal and there have been issues with members' insurance companies refusing to pay for accidents because they had tinted tails.

Is that smoked though or tinted? I am looking for smoked (just a hint of black), they don't have to be totally blacked over.

Anything but reflective red is not DOT legal and anything that impedes the reflectivity of the tails is illegal whether that be tinting or "smoking".

I have the modern performance smoked LED tails, but I think they quit making them.

Are the IPCW LED tails actually smoked, or is just the border black? That is the ones I am currently looking at is the Black IPCW.

Thats the main problem, is covering the reflective area. The actual act of tinting them is hardly illegal. As long as you just lightly smoke them, legally, you will be fine. It is not illegal to have tinted tails as long as they conform to the legal light output. Hell, they have produced vehicles with tinted tails...
