To some this may be a drawn out beat to death topic, but i'm really wanting to get more serious this year about weight reduction.

first off, please post any concrete info you have about weighing in and what you removed/replaced etc. any solid info helps. (unfortunately all of my numbers are estimated right now except for my stock curb weight)

well i can tell you this, i currently have the hood off of my car and i could certainly weigh it to be sure but it feels like it weighs a solid 40-45 lbs. i also have a carbon fiber trunk right next to it, which is of course smaller but not too far off in surface area. and that feels INCREDIBLY light; i want to say somewhere around 10 lbs. i just might weigh both pieces to be sure because i'm really looking into lightening my car up.

weight removed from the back of the car would be better than the front in my eyes being that we are fwd.

this year i will not be using back seats. noone ever sits there anyways because the rear rubs with my spacers back there haha. those do weigh around 35 lbs total. haven't ran a spare tire in forever, just got a patching kit and i should also get an inflator just in case of emergency.

Exhaust is lighter too im sure, most tend to say you drop around 20-30 lbs with a full aftermarket exhaust

also have removed the a.c. condensor since my zzp stealth took up all the room. there isn't too much else to remove for the a.c. besides lines which i could remove but may keep in case i ever decide to get rid of the stealth for a.c. again haha. that thing was semi light but probably still about 25 lbs. i could also remove the ac piece on the belt assembly and run an ac delete belt; might as well just to preserve the bearing on the piece lol

really looking into getting an alien motion 22 cell battery; those weigh 3.5 lbs compared to the 38ish lb ac delcos our cars come with.

if i do all of this listed above...

SS/SC wheels - ~24 lbs to s/tc wheels @ ~20 lbs - 16 lbs (and rotational mass!)
stock trunk with wing - 30.5 lbs. carbon fiber trunk - 10 lbs. plus wing (can't say goodbye lol) probably 15 lbs savings
rear seats , padding, seat belts, head rests, - 35-40 lbs
spare tire - 30 lbs
battery - 38 lbs savings
ac condensor delete - 20
Exhaust - 20-30

so i should weigh in around 2820 lbs. noot bad.

and i may also rip other things out of the trunk, really who needs all that carpet and jazz back there, my kidnappee's?

in the end these are pretty heavy cars, many hondas and similar chassis type 4cyl sports cars weigh in the ballpark of 2500-2700 lbs.

i weighed in at 3000lbs with a fullish tank without me in it before doing any of this

my carbon fiber trunk is a good deal lighter then the stock trunk. Wish I weighed them when I was swapping them. Id say the CF trunk is a quarter of the weight if I were to guesstimate.

I also am not running a spare, jack and all that other stuff in the trunk at this point.

You can look into getting a lightweight battery as well.

Now back in the day people used to drill a bunch if big holes inthe aluminum interior panels to drop weight lol now idk how much i could safely take off by doing that but i wonder how important those are for rigidity...

Also im starting to wish i didnt have a sunroof. Thats a lot of weight right on the top of zeh car

I pulled 200lbs out of my GTO (tons of extra skid plates not really needed and other things) barely made any difference. Was not worth the work IMHO.

So many other things to factor in than weight and power......

Take door panel off, hole saw a bunch of holes in the door, put door panel back on.
Rear seats
All the interior trim - or as much as you're willing to take off

True dude i know that but just for a rough comparison, when it comes to roll racing its preeetty much power weight, gearing, and if you both shift at the same speed. But we had raced a bunch of times different speeds and it was always pretty close. But we all know a 2600lb lsj would beat a 3000lb lsj no questions asked thats my point lol

Remove the windshield washer fluid reservoir, or at least empty it. ~10 easy pounds.

Yes its glass lol. And with the motors and tracks and crap pretty heavy over all.

Light wheels would be great to have one day.

Ive considered losing the sub and amp... i know this is where im gonna start sounding like a pusspuss but i dont want to lose many creature comforts; obviously my car is kind of a half show half go kind of car and its definately a street oriented car. So i like bells whistles and looks.

Insulation i am thinking about! Idk im gonna pull the interior panels one day and see what im looking at. Really miniscule savings at best though. Carpet on the other hand adds up... but carpet is pretty. Guess what im looking for is stealth weight reduction lol.

Aluminum wheels, smaller tires, racing seats, racing steering wheel, aftermarket radio if you don't have one already. Try and replace that whole sunroof with a carbon fiber piece that goes in place, a new intake and exhaust, rip out all the carpet and everything in the back, even the back dash will let you lose some weight. Take off exhaust heat shields, that's all I can think of. Also it is said that running a 14lb battery is the safest weight to run according to zzp, carbon fiber quarter panels as well if anyone makes them.

You can reduce weight by replacing the stock lug nuts with plastic ones
