Light Sensor

Hey.. Since the Canadian Cobalts have a Automatic Light System and cant be turned off ...

i'm sick of it.. i cant run the night in the city with only my fogs and flashers.. or when ever i get under a bridge.. or bla bla.. my HID's turns on and they dont turn off after..

so i'm asking if there was a way to like removed the sensor.. or a fuse or something so i can turn my lights on manually

Thanks guys

Rotate the end of the turn signal back towards you to turn off the auto lights. Then they won't come on by themselves unless you turn the ignition off and back on. When you do that, they will be turned back on again.

that only works with the US cobalts. it will only turn off the lights if the car is not moving and the e brake is applied.......damn canadian laws.

I lost mine but yeah I agree with you it sucks that we can't turn off the lights.

or are we supposed to be able to? cause I can't turn off the lights (not DRLs) on my car when they decide they want to be on, unless I'm parked...

stupid car shouldn't decide for me when I don't want it to..

well on the other thread we both posted in about lights someone had pointed you to a fuse that can be taken off and that turns off DRL's it's a bit drastic but it's supposed to work.

I think it was in the appearance section if you want to dig it up.

n/m I found it and it seems that wasn't what you wanted cause you did that change.

I would like to know a way to do this also.

I want to be able to turn off my HID's and just have the halo's going when needed.

tape a led to the sensor, as long as there is enough light the photocell will tell the car to leave the light off.

Funny, I was just thinking the same thing (duct tape and a 6 volt Coleman flashlightlol but it doesn't work that way. DRL's are on whenever the engine is running (without E-Brake) and the sensor simply brightens your lights to normal when it gets dark.
I'm not aware of any simple way to defeat it.

A photo electric cell is a variable resistor, with there no power if theres no light out. SOOOO...

Unhook the sensor, connect the two wires together connected to the sensor and bam, no more issues?!

Another Canadian cobalt here but with a slightly different annoyance.

The stupid sensor controllers interior lights too. Sometimes it thinks its still night when I drive in the morning to work so it keeps the lights dim. I can't read anything on the head unit screen when it does that!!

Anyone else have this problem?
