LNF Block with LSJ Head

Hey Everyone!

Alright long story short. I have a 2006 Cobalt SS / SC , I blew a nice hole in the block , the rod to tried to escape. I have a good block out of a LNF.

Am I able to use the LNF block with my LSJ head?
Has anyone ever done this before?

Thanks!!!

Technically it would work but the lsj has a stronger block. Youd also have to put the lsj crank in the new block because the crank trigger timing is different. I would say youre better off finding a good gen 1 or gen 3 block.

I would think there is going to be other differences between the lsj and the lnf block too. Your throwing a turbo block into a supercharged car. I always thought the lnf engine was better than the lsj but I never really got into the lsj.

It works. I ran it in my car (05 SS w/ big turbo); you just have to use an LSJ rotating assembly (Crank, rods, pistons).

You'll need to plug the oil drain hole on the back of the block, also the bolt pattern for the oil cooler is different, you can drill and tap like I did. You can run the LNF cooler, but you also need to run the LNF thermostat housing then... and iirc, the hoses are different diameters compared to those of the LSJ, so you run into problems with your heater hoses not fitting properly... or something like that.

I think those are the only differences/problems that I ran into.
