The issue I have is the finish is coming off on my rims but they are used year round so that's kind of my fault.

The S/C will go 100,000 easily as long as you maintain the vehicle.

I'm not sure on kms but I get 27-28 mpg in the city and 30+ on the freeway.

I AVERAGE 31 mpgs in my stage 2 ss/sc. I think its one of the only cars that gets better mpgs than what it is rated at.

Mechanically the cars are fantastic and very reliable. The supercharger/car will last well over 100,000miles as long as you take good care of it. The only common problem they really have would be creaks/squeaks of the interior, wheel hop, and **** poor traction. The last two things I mentioned can be corrected with upgraded transmission mounts, torque dampers, and better tires.

The car does have its odd issues. Transmission leaks at the shifter linkage seals, output shaft seal (could be the shifter linkage seal leaking down), axles breaking because of hard launches. but its a fine car. When I buy used I take my potential used car to my mechanic and have them give it a once over, costs 75-100 bucks and they give me the okay or fail. I have not been screwed over once after having them look at it. They even found a pin hole leak in a cv boot on a vibe I bought (was under warranty so pontiac fixed it).

The SC is a good car, just be a cautious buyer and maintain the car properly.

I am at 114500KM , stage2, full exhaust, intake, and the car is still pulling strong. I changed out the oil in the supercharger at around 100000km just to be safe but GM says you don't even have to. and as for fuel economy, on my last road trip I averaged 7.1 L/100KM and during city driving I am around 9.2 L/100KM

For most part they are okay. I'm sure some people have had some problems but mine has been good. The warranty is 3 years 36,000 miles from GM if I remember correctly on a 2005, unless the previous owner bought an extended warranty. My warranty has expired.

I would HIGHLY recommend a ss/sc to anyone. They're truly great cars and even stock, they're fun as hell. I've had my 07 since I bought it new almost 2 years ago. I drive A LOT and have 47,000 miles on it now and it has never once had an issue of any kind, big or small.

Gas-wise I average 28 around "town" (as much of a town as south jersey can be considered) and low-mid 30's on the highway even doing 80mph.

Year-wise I'd probably go with a 06-07 to be a little safer even though the 05's are typically fine. The only bonus of an 07 is the interior got a new steering wheel and radio, both of which look nicer, and a iPod AUX input which is awesome.

Yes. I'm not sure if GM will sell you a warranty but companies like Fidelis sells warranties.

I don't know for sure, I never purchased an extented warranty. I guy I work with has a warranty through Fedelis and says they are legit. I think they have deductibles though.

So many people are looking to sell theirs. You won't have any problem finding one in good shape.

Do you want to know modded or unmodded?

Unmodded:
>paint tends to chip easily unless it's not driven a lot.
>interior trim tends to chip (mainly on doors near window controls)
>sunroof opening/closing issues. that's a 50/50. some have, some haven't. I never did.
>sunroof button sometimes falls off (again, never happened to me or a lot of ppl I know, but some have reported it).
>backlight on steering wheel controls burn out (mine did after 50K miles)
>models with the graphite grey wheels (05-06) had bubbling issues with the wheel paint: we called it "pitting".

Modded:
>axles can break if you're heavily modded (approx. 250whp and up)
>tranny weakens around the same power level.
>so does the clutch.

I know, sounds like a lot. But that is everything that might happen or has been reported. Ask anyone that has ever seen my car -- it looked like a show car and drove like a rabbid gorilla (see my gallery for evidence...lol) -- a complete blast as a DD. Pick two or three things off that list and that is probably what will go wrong with your car over it's entire lifespan. It really is a fun car with some serious ***** for a FWD economy car.

is first year production ok?

As far as I know. I had an '06.

whats the average life of the s/c?

Let's put it this way. We don't know yet. Unless you count the people who have blown their motors after heavy modding -- no one has reached that point yet. I"m thinking they will be like any other car and good for well over 120K miles.

how many kms are u guys getting per tank?

Again, Modded or unmodded?

I was modded pretty decently (ran mid 13's) and still got 26mpg's city!
A buddy of mine (very conservative driver) was able to get over 35mpg to and from work as long as he didn't go into boost.

And even if you don't mod it, you can get it tuned and it will improve your gas mileage and give you a little more Oomf!.

Hope this all helped.
