Loose Steering

Hey guys. Last week due to some nasty icy roads here in Michigan, I ended up putting my ls in the ditch. Besides a broken mirror, car is fine. I noticed though, that my steering doesn't feel as precise as before, and I guess it just feels like the car has no weight in the front anymore if that makes sense. Steering just is VERY easy to move and it was never like this before. I took both wheels off and did an inspection, no bent tie rods or control arms. Ended up replacing the front brake pads though lol. Hope you guys have some suggestions! Thanks!

How precise is it turning the wheels? Does it seem to have more of a dead spot in the steering wheel going down the road now?

Actually, yes it does seem to have a dead spot, but it has a lot of play in it and when I turn the steering wheel it doesn't do much until a little into the turn

Check the shaft from the steering column to the rack and pinion. It has a u joint on it that's prone to rust and it may be going bad. When they do it makes the steering feel really sloppy.

Thanks guys. I brought the car to a local mechanic shop and they said all I needed was a front end alignment. Charged me $60 and now the car feels back to normal. Thanks as always for the input!
