I can't believe the wear on my driver's seat after 10,000km's. I have the feeling I'll be warranty replacing the seats a couple times. The edges is totally wrinkled, and the seating surface is also all wrinkled and stretched. I'd rather have cloth compared to this crap...

 

yeah I got 7000miles on mine and the seats look like they are a month away from splitting... do you think the factory will replace them or be like... there wear and tear parts so your on your own.

I got 13k and it looks bad but mine are far from cracking because i treated the leather.
so it looks wrinkled but its still soft and suple

 

Go get em B-Spot and let us know how it works so we can all get new seats.

Of course I had leather in an older chrysler from my dad and the seats were wrinkled too but it had over 300,000kms on it when I got it and who knows when it started.

GM might just say "how much did you pay for your car? did you think we used the best of everything to keep the price much lower than your competition?"

Still would be interesting to see if they warranty the seats.

Does anyone on here who has the recaro leather seats, have the same thing happening to their seats?

 

i just got a set of seats from a redline (the recaros) , and they have close to 10,000 miles

and they still look good


just gotta figure out how to mount them in my cav

I saw this coming with my leather seats . The leather in the cobalts while looks nicer is as bad a quality as the leather in the F-bodies I have had . After the first month I wasnt happy . I was pursuing replacements under warranty until I got my Ion redline recaro's . Now I dont have to worry about it anymore .

 

How much are you guys paying for your redline recaros and where are you getting them from?

first set i tried to get sold on ebay for 360.00 something , 2nd set sold for just over 500.00

the set i won i got for 255


all were before shipping

It doesn't really matter if it was a $20,000 car or a $100,000 car, Warranty needs to cover it.

Light leather wrinkles/flex marks are normal.

Stitching coming out, tearing and major stretching isn't.

 

Agreed, they will do it.

 

last time i took the car in for cracking sound coming out from the wood trims over coarse roads. so i took a test drive with those guys and they said " you know what kid, you're not driving a cadillac or anything" . man.......such a stupid comment and i think those guys should get fired long ago.......

ok back to the leather
well......mine has a little more than 8k km and it looks horrible......wrinkled and with .....well.......the shape of an ass on it.......dont know if thats normal...........looks really bad....

 

My Recaro seats are holding up great.

Word of advice, USE A SUN VISOR/BLOCK IN YOUR WINDSHEILD!

Sun is the most damaging thing to your leather seats.

 

If enough people complain about it................GM will have to do something about it. I hope they won't just re-apholster it.....Shoulda put good seats in to begin with. I got all black with black inserts because I was worried that the color inserts would get dirty looking after a while. Any word on that?

 

I treat mine weekly with a quality leather conditioner. Yeah I have a few wrinkles, my vette has them too. It comes with a natural product like leather. Treating the seats with conditioner will greatly help the appearance!

my car has almost 14,000 kms and my red inserts look clean as new

 

The outsides aren't a natural product. They are vinyl. And they suck ass. The only part that is real leather is the perforated seating surfaces.

 

I've been using the visor in my car since the day I bought it which was in March. My leather seats in my LS and have no problems but some stretching and the car sits outside all the time day and night. There have been some nights when I forgot to put it up and the car sat outside the next day in the direct sunlight but the tinted windows could also be helping me out on this one.

If they get REALLY bad I'll be going in and complaining but for now it doesn't bother me at all...besides that butt groove makes them nicely form fitting .
