Mike Ulrey HID Retrofits SCAM

It's been a few years since I have last posted here - 4 or so years lol... But I am seeing something unfold in the lightning community and wanted to get some of the Cobalt communities take on it.

Mike Ulrey formerly owner of BuyHids.com and affiliated with HIDWerks posted up on one of our Facebook buy and sell pages for a group buy for Lightning Retrofit headlights at an amazingly low price.

After taking many many orders months have gone past and no one has gotten their lights.

To me it seems this POS is using the group buy as an interest free personal loan to himself and building 1 (if even that) set of lights a month.

What was the cobaltss's experience with this doucher?

Anytime someone messages him asking when they will be done its the same responses 'man im busy' 'i got 3 kids'. And then when someone asks for a refund he says that he will have to dismantle the lights and sell the parts to do the refund....

There's ALOT more data I could spew (screen shots, quotes) but I'll keep it short for now. Hoping some members here can chime in to add some ammunition to take this guy down.

I am not personally but have friends that are and all have opened paypal disputes.

Good to know it just isn't a fluke and that its typical of him.

I'm on my phone so its too much of a pain, but just wait until someone posts all the associated threads haha. And no matter what he says, tell your friends not to cancel the disputes. Had a guy on here yesterday get burned for doing just that after more lying.

i would urge anybody that is active in the facebook groups (shame on you by the way, everyone should just be on the forum ) to post warnings about this guy and whenever you see his name pop up tell the truth. i have messaged a lot of people to warn them about him, its hard to keep everyone safe but i hope someone takes legal action on him sometime, he's gotta go down.

Yeahh I won't say I was part of a scam but I ALWAYS had an issue with the ballast lasting maybe only 3 months then it would take a month for him to get a another back to me. And I would get the same response of oh I'm sorry and I've been busy.

Switched to DDMTUNING NO PROBLEMS for a whole year.

right there with you man i was gonna buy from him til i read all the horror stories and i went with ddm tuning lol. its pretty sad that a company whose solely based in china and now have a warehouse in california is better then a person whose "local" and has the "best stuff".

My first issue was using one of his codes for free shipping and it was actually my mom purchasing for my bday and he came back and said codes couldn't be used on group buys, which was never said. So she replied back very kindly and his warehouse was actually here in Florida so he shipped a set directly for free. But then ever since it was an issue on communicating and getting replacement ballast.

Thanks for confirming guys. After googling and searching this forum I figured this was the case...

Unfortunately if he does eventually get refunds out, say 6 months or a set of **** lights months after promised what could happen in small claims court?

He technically hasn't done anything wrong other than waste your time at that point right?

If they get a refund then there is no case. Small claims courts are just for money disputes up to iirc $3k and u pay around $50 to file

You'd think this guys would start using a different name at this point. I think he'll have to after this if he ever wants to keep his... "business" ...going. But hopefully he doesn't so people will know to stay the hell away! Good luck OP!
