1. $7-8 a quart
2. 6 1/2 to 7
3. AC Delco, Fram

First off how many miles do you have on your car? And this IS important!

But for the filter use ONLY AC DELCO!

Now how many miles do you have?

Nothing at all.

Best advice is goto walmart and buy it by the gallon (gallon=5 quarts) its only 20 or 30 bucks.

As far as much as you need, read the owners manual. Its all there.

Let it go longer to make sure the rings are seated completely. True you may be alright but
why risk it? I'd say switch at around 10,000.

Synthetic oil stops damn near all wear, the engine needs to wear a little to seat all the parts properly. Just give it a little while longer it won;t hurt anything but swithing too early could. Not trying to scare you from useing it but I'd wait if I were you.

I switched at 3K, its completly fine to do. The motor only takes 1500 miles or so to "break in"

I believe Royal Purples site only advises 3K on a motor before switching also.

Go by the monitor if you like or the 3000 mile rule its up to you. If you go by the monitor then its still fine and it could go to 6000 miles or more before its due for its first change.

And like I said you can switch and be just fine but me personaly for mine am waiting till around 10,000 miles. I always like to play it on the cautious side alittle more I guess.

Gonna have one ugly engine if you try and pour 7 quarts into a 2.4.

As for where to get it, Wal-Mart sells 5 quart jugs at a good price, and if you have a membership to Sam's Club / Costco / whatever warehouse discount store they have out there, you can get a 6-pack for pretty cheap as well.

When I bought my Mobil1 at Walmart I think my gallon was only 22 dollars or so. Super cheap.

Next oil change however i'm going with AMSOIL because they're 5X Better

OK, Mobil 1 good choice, oil filter Pure One by Purolator highest effeciency for multiple passes for a $6 filter that can be found at most any parts store, buy the oil in the 5 quart jug and purchase additional qts as necessary depending on which car you have. A gallon is only 4 qts. Does not the 2.0SS come factory filled with Mobi1?? Corvettes, GTO's and CTS-V's all with Mobil 1 from the factory. I don't think GM breaks each and every engine in before putting in Mobil 1.

Thank you kyyankee.
Also, there is no need to wait to use Mobil1,. it comes from the factory in 2.0's Corvette, GTO Some Cadillacs, Porsche, etc. As long as it meets the GM recomended rating you are good to go.

Thats because those engines come factory with polished cylinder walls so the rings don't have seating issues cause they're already on a polished surface. The main thing that needs to break in is the rings NEED to polish the walls so they have a smooth surface to seal against. That only happens 2 ways, #1 if the cylinder walls are polished from the factory like those listed above or #2 if the engine is aloud to break in.

Now where it is true that manufacturing standards have greatly improved over the years and cylinders are being honed with finer stones makeing break ins quicker that doesn't mean they still don't need to. So that 3000 miles that Rally Yellow waited was most likly plenty of time to do the job. But as I said I just like to play things extra safe and I'm waiting till 10,000.

In the end it all boils down to personal preferences so neither way is "wrong"

Enjoy your Mobil 1 its good stuff!

But what about all the metal pieces from the engine. My uncle, a mechanic, told me to change it after 500. Theres an article that recommends changin it after the first 20. I just dont know wat to do anymore...
