Mounting front license plate problem..
Mounting front license plate problem..
So I just moved to Texas, and here they require that you have a license plate in the back AND front.
So, I was going to install the front bracket, when I see that there were 3 holes that had been filled in, and it occurred to me that the guy I bought it from said he had the bracket there already, and had removed it and filled in the holes.
So, what I am wondering, is will it be tricky to re-drill the holes for the bracket?
I have been told that there is a chance of the bumper cracking, since it has already been weakened by the original holes. Is there any truth to that? Are there any tricks I can use to remount a license plate up front without risking cracking my bumper?
Thanks guys!!

Ehh, my car looks nice, and duct tape won't really accent it well.. lol.. plus, I don't want to risk the plate dropping off mid driving which would make me have to go out and get another one which im sure is a pain in the ass..
Just drill holes and use license plate fasteners. I would probably take it in steps. Start small and increase to final size in a couple of jumps. I really doubt it will crack unless they just put bondo over the holes.....
You can also change the mounting location. My buddy Matt folded the bottom of the plate over and used the two mounting holes in the bottom of the plate to attach to the bottom of the lip.

If it cracks it cracks, stop drill the crack, and fill it in with an epoxy, then spot paint it and it should be fine, besides the crack would most likely be behind the plate anyway wouldn't it?
