MPG & avg speed comparison

I'm trying to accurately compare my car's fuel millage with everyone else, so...

list your Average Speed/ MPG/ engine size that is displayed on your DIC.

also an explination of your driving conditions would help too... hard, medium, granny.

Please vote... I will try to post the results as a graph later.

THis might be useful to get an idea of the efficiencies of the ECOTECs.

This was on my modded LSJ

30-35% engine load is about cruising speed. Anything less is coasting, more is accelerating.

Av. speed 34mph (converted)
Av. MPG 21 "
Drv. Med/hard

There is a quiet section of my commute where I floor it daily (uphill/4% grade divided hwy with barriers) to about 220kph (132mph), so the numbers will reflect this. Otherwise, my driving is mid-range given the winding mountainous terrain.

Avg speed: 24
Avg MPG: 20

My route to work consists of speeding up to 55 (speed limit) then with the perfect timing of the lights stopping after about 3/4 of a mile at the next light.

Do this 9 times and you're bound to get screwed. It's a conspiracy between the County and the oil companies.

Normal driving I get about 28 mpg when I'm not going to work.

When I first read the title of this thread I thought it was about Dic #'s and I thought, another one of "those" polls.

maybe its me but I think you might have to redo this post.

1. Do you want us to reset the avg vehcile speed on the DIC?

2. Then reset mpg?

I have never rsest the speed on my DIC. If your doing it this way to compare you need to compare everyon on a level palying feild where the same procedures are followed.

For example--TheCaptain--has 118km/h----he must have went on the highway and reset the DIC as he was driving. Then did the MPG too. He average 118km/h for a short time...not for a tank of gas

Possibly stupid Q, but why DO our avg speeds show as so slow? Mine always says 30-ish (just like everyone else's) but I live in the country w/no lights and no 25-35mph speed limits.

Actually, that was my averages for a day trip to Winnipeg and back, i should have took a picture of it, as i since have erased it. I was on the highway for approx. 10 hours and only stopped to fuel and eat, approx. 30 mins of doing less than 118K. believe me or not, i know what the car said. It was a long day... and NO speeding tickets!

Moosomin SK to Otterburne MB - 450 Km.
Round trip - 900+ kms (and went in between the Otterburne and Steinbach)
