Unhappy my GF banged up her cobalt tonite...:(

so tonite we were turning around at some random garage when the freaking guy had a log sitting right in the center of his driveway...we didnt see it and she hit it...it didnt hurt the body at all but it took out the radiator and the AC condensor?? is that what it is right in front of the radiator? its a cobalt LS 2.2 BTW....but i been searching for parts for it to get an estimate on the prices for both parts...it completely took the end cap right off the radiator..good thing i live right up the street!! i was wondering if anyone knew some prices for these 2 things i need..
it also hit the unibody right below/behind the radiator and bent it in about 3 inches...i hope she didnt bend the unibody and total it...
was wondering if i could get some help...

thanks!

its not noticable untill you crawl under the car and actually see the rad. but what gives it away is the trail of rad. fluid from the log to the house..its a good thing i live close...i switched to her temp. on the dash and wathced it rise to 210 when we pulled in..i was freaking out...
is their any sites i can look for prices on the rad. and AC rad.
and i thought i felt the car shaking a little..but we were both freaking out since she got it 2 months ago...
and the garag is all by itself on the street with no lights on...i know now not to turn their..i even know the guy..LOL

Someone has broken into a house, slipped and fell down stairs and sued the owner and won.
Another case, a burgler has cut himself on a knife in the kitchen and won a case against the owner.

I say talk to a lawyer, its free and it could get all this paid for.

Take a picture of the log and it's position in the the driveway. Putting a log there to prevent turnaround traffic is one thing, sizing the log to do damage to your car is another. You may have some legal recourse. While I can understand the home owners attitude about people using his driveway, he's lucky no one's kicked his ass.

No flame. How many times have you turned down a street that "dead ends" unknown to you. If the guy bought a house on a dead end unmarked by signs, he should have taken measures on his own to warn people, not rip the guts outta their cars. This applies to streets shut down by construction.

Maybe the guy has it there for another reason? Like a big wooden park bench for his drinking buddies...right in the middle of his driveway.

Why would u sue someone because they put something they wanted in their own driveway? It's his house and property. Lets do a turn around, and say if someone did a U-turn in your yard and hit something of yours that u wanted in ur yard or driveway. You want to get sued over something that dumb? That person has the right to do or put anything he wants in his driveway. Sorry but I think its pathetic that people would sue over something this minor. Sorry to hear about the damage to your g/f car.

i crashed my cobalt a few months back and that part underneath that you called the unibody....dont worry just the rad support.. down side is that the rad support pays over 10 hours to replace and you couldnt do it if you tried without a frame machine. i happened to be friends with the body guy who fixed my car and watched some of the prep that had to be done to that and everything has to be taken off of the front end and the rad support must be glued in with that factory adhesive and the old welds drilled out. sorry to hear about the car though hope it comes out okay
