First: I'm not in favor of frivolous lawsuits. Second: If the phone / utility pole visible is in direct line of sight with the next pole (over our shoulder to the rear), the property in question is probably on city "easement" and log shouldn't be there. Third: The pole end looks to damn close to the road. Forth: Does that little "pole barn" lookin thing satisfy the communities description of a garage? Is the structure being included in taxes to the city?

just got off the phone with my friends dad [a lawyer, for about 25 years]. " If the log is on his property ( and i described the photos of the logs location) then you can Not sue the owner of the house bc you went onto there property and damaged your property. If the log was in a nutral area i.e sticking off the curb, or in an area that it not clearly private property you might be able to. But this would be like driving a Truck off road on someones property and damaging your truck going over a bump and trying to sue the property owner.

ted5986

This probably dosen't belong here, but I think ted5986 needs to know his car is probably not safe to drive. Cobalt's have no "radiator support", the part you see when you open the hood is a upper tie bar. This part should NEVER be bonded on! This is a structual part and needs to be welded in. Improperly installed stuctural components will change how the car will act in another collision putting the occupants at risk.
The part underneath is a suspension support. This part is bolted on. A reasonably smart home mechanic could install one.
I have been a bodyman for 30 years, 8 at a Chevrolet dealer, so I know what I am talking about. Get your cars fixed properly!

so she dented the suspension support?
i no nothing about these cars...dont mind me....im hoping she didnt push other things and its totalled..we inspected other parts of the car just in case and a bolt holding the door hinge was loose..we are not sure if it was loose from the factory or not..and the door doesnt seem alinged very well on the drivers side..the bottom of the doors gap looks closer than at the top of the door...its not even against the fender...but we may just be imagining things..i guess we wont know till the gargae tests it on a machine

Yea, GM calls it a suspension support. It could be called a sub frame or cradle too. The engine, lower control arms and steering rack are attatched to it and it is bolted to the unibody. From the pictures it looks like it is just dented on the front edge. If it isn't pushed back and hitting anything I would have the front wheel alignmet checked. If it isn't out of alignment, I wouldn't worry about the dent. Just get the radiator and condensor replaced and call it a day.

everything would be fine if your girl made a 3 point turn. people over here get shot for pulling up in someone's driveway that they don't know.

but here is the garage..pics of the car coming next!

you can see where it was pushed into the garaghe before by someone else...
so we are not the first dumbshits to do it...LOL
how are you so sure that your girl didn't cause that damage? the next day the owners of the house probably moved it to the side to see the damage done and could have just left it there. you are lucky that they don't sue you for the damage that your girl caused. just my $0.02 on the incident.

I tend to agree just looking at where the trail of fluid is and where it looks like it was hit, it's VERY possible that the damage to the grage was done by her. And the log, from your pictures, is WAY in from the road...at least two car widths.

As for the parts, try gmpartsdirect, they're usually pretty reasonable.

i KNOW for a fact3 the damage caused to the garage was not her...first of all look at the arrow pointing to the pool, when i got out and looked when it happened the mark from the pool being pushed was fresh...the arrow to the rad. is right where the driver side end tank to the rad would sit...

Exactly. Its the, "it's not my fault, its their fault," attitude. They don't want to take responsibility for their mistakes, so they try to put the blame on someone else.

looking at the damage on the car and the depression infront of the log , Id say it was from her and the log moved over after she backed off it . good luck with the fix .

wow, i did the same exact thing, well, kinda of
i hydroplaned and ran over a stop sign
it cost me $1200 to get it fixed, i needed a new radiator and a/c condensor, my sub frame has a dent in it, but im not worried about it
my bumper also got $500 in damage in it
the radiator cost me 300, the a/c condensor cost me 500, and there was somethin like 10 hours of labor to fix it

best of luck to you
