Canada My lease with GMC Canada!?!? Please answer.

Well I'll get to the point and hopefully someone out there knows the answers? I have my 06 Chevy SS 2.4L, leased till like October of this yr then its done. Now I have made some
changes to it, tint, lowered, intake.. Not much but its now not the car I once got at the beginning.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but in order to return it come end of lease term does my Cobalt need to be in the same shape as when the lease began or do a few mods such as mine really matter?? Its a Sunday so I can't get a hold of a stealership to verify. And remind you this is in Canada, Alberta to be exact as well if that matters?

I ask this cause well I'm doing rather well with the new job and money is better and alot of peeps say I should either get the new T/C or turbo my car, the latter being more time and fund consuming etc etc. And well Marches Cobalt of the month keeps saying buy a new T/C.. but anyways..

Thanks for the help.. guys please chime in

As long as you have the stock parts you'll be fine because they can return it back to stock for no problem. you got nothing major done to it so you should be fine man. P.s definetly get a ss/tc or even a low k/m ss/sc thats not been abused. Good luck!

I would put all the stock stuff back on. You could probably sell the stuff for more money than it's going to cost you to reinstall the stock stuff.

The dealership has nothing to do with the return. They call GMAC and somebody comes and picks up the car. It can be days or weeks before it happens.

BTW, I just did the exact thing your thinking of. I love the SS/TC and so will you.

Well the stock springs were lost in a move I did so there not going back on and well if you seen the snow I drive through with my lowered car youd be impressed and well come on a lowered Cobalt always looks better . The intake I can't see being an issue really and I'm sure I have that black fugly box somewhere. But ya thanks for the replys guys. I know I just will be going to the big city to wheel and deal this time not in Butt Hole Alberta, oops did I say that?

How much are your payments on the new T/C SS if I may ask or what did you pay for the car, reply back privately if you want. I do luv the Cobalt and well mine has def lived up to the term like a rock so I'd like to upgrade and own a true SS in very sense of the word as well. No offense to S/C SS guys

I'm paying $625 Cdn a month for my SS. But that's with $1400 disability insurance and $4750 lease obligations left rolled into payments.

Doing the math, I paid about $25.5k for it. The only option missing is the high rise spoiler. MSRP & freight would have been about $34 with taxes.

Wow! all these experts to help you. But only a couple gave you a remotely close idea as to what you should do. If you leased the car from GM or any other bank, you "MUST" return it in it's original condition...i.e. STOCK. They don't mind if ou added a pinstripe or a set of ventvisors, but the permanant things (hard adds) the ones that leave holes or things like the dropped suspension have to be put back to stock.
If you changed the vehicle without permission from the leasing company they will hammer you on return, and possibly damage your credit score. READ THE CONTRACT. on the back of your contract there are specific details about your responibilities on return of the vehicle . Or go to the "stealer" and ask them what you should do. Which is the less expensive way out...You may have to purchase the vehicle at end rather than put it back to stock.

Good luck with that

06G5GT was the closest correct answer you got, I would be listening to him if I were you. He's right the dealer only takes the car back, but GMAC or any other bank will sell the car at auction and hold you responsible for any amount they didn't get at auction to cover your residual. (the purchase option price)
You'll be contacted weeks after the car is sold and the option to restore it will be lost. Leaving you with only one option. Get the vaseline cause it going to hurt.

X2
The car needs to be in the original condition. You may have given a deposit depending on the lease promo you got back then; you are def not getting it back if you return to the dealer with esthetical or mechanical mods.
Make sure you swap to stock, sell the parts. I wouldn't worry about the window tint unless it's not legal.

That's pretty impressive considering the invoice price with freight for my car was $26,621 before tax or a shade over $30k with tax. $30k even at 0% financing would be $500 a month.

I could have had an SS with no LSD, no sunroof, no XM, no onstar and no usb for $463 a month but that was with no disability insurance and I was paying my lease off out of pocket.

You should have taken that deal from Forbes, either the guy did the numbers wrong or they really wanted to get rid of one on their lot.

Perhaps that is how they do it in the US Johnny. Up here, he will pay his remaining lease obligation and GMAC will pick up the car. Once they inspect it and it meets their criteria, the lease is absolved and he walks away. The residual amount shown on the lease does not matter. If it's 10k and they get 5k at auction, it's their loss not his.
