My SS Is Gone... :(
Cruzes are a very nice vehicle. I wish the Cobalt's interior was half as refined as a Cruze is. That said, while they are peppy, especially with the 1.4 and they have a nice 6 spd. manual, it's no LSJ/LNF.
thanks for the responses!
this was my second Cobalt... my first one was a black 2005 base coupe with a 5speed. This car:

the Cobalt SS would theoretically go in the snow... on level ground, but I live in the Adirondack Mountains of New York and the car was just too sketchy. That's why i've had a fun collection of winter beaters since 2007.
it just came down to the payment... I bought the SS when I was younger and a whole lot dumber. The payment has always been too big and since the prices of things keeps going up and my income doesn't, something had to go and that was the Cobalt. On top of that, i didn't want to have two cars on the road anymore. two cars = twice the upkeep, twice the gas. This way i have one car that's good on gas. Also, the SS was starting to need work... it was kind of apparent in August. Just little things... wheel bearings were starting to hum, the suspension was getting mushy, rust was appearing (even though it never really got driven in the salt, sand and snow)... i just felt it was time to go.
the color of my Cobalt SS/SC was laser blue and the stripes were a custom color... it was a metallic silver pearl with a purple and blue ghost to it. In the sun the car was just gorgeous.
Anyways, I have some plans for the Cruz, nothing earth-shattering or racey, just enough to make the car mine...
...and no, I wasn't taking a **** in that picture.

The right set of tires makes all the difference. As for fuel economy, we're you really that unsatisfied with your Cobalt? I know the Cruze gets excellent MPGs, but I never thought the Cobalt was bad.
Ya can't argue the practicality of the Cruze, should be a good car and is predicted to hold it's value better than the cavi and balt before it. I drove my lowered SS's through several blizzards. Only had a problem once, when my road went unplowed with 3.5 inches of snow for several days (plus some pretty deep drifts). Took quite an effort to get my car home. I probably used 3 gallons of gas to get the last 100 yards. I live on a 2 lane highway that is just about the last thing to get plowed or treated.. One of the reasons I just traded for a new Impreza.

Chris, you might remember me from the old NY J-bodies site? I had the blue 98 Cavalier RS clone with the silver stripes. My friend Garret had the cayenne red 95 Cavalier with the Baer kit, RK Sport ge kit had "CHEVY" on the doors?
that picture was taken just short of Roaring Brook Falls on NY Route 73N... about three or four miles from Malfunction Junction (where 73 starts and US 9 heads north towards Elizabethtown NY)

If you have any questions about the car, let me know and I'd be happy to help.
