I simply advised that the original poster should take a look at the rsx type-s. Because it is an all-round great car for the money.. and even if your sarcastically trying to poke a jab at me, by hailing Ford, its irrelevent. BECAUSE:

1) the Focus is not a comparable car to the Cobalt Supercharged or RSX Type-S in terms of performance, price, etc.

2) I am trying to help the guy. You trying to be smart (but failing miserably) at comparing apples to orranges is not helping the guy to make a purchase! Ford and the focus has nothing to do with anything.. RSX does because it is COMPARABLE to the Balt!

3) Please, to all readers.. go back and read the posts thoroughly before writing me.. read them twice if you have to.. but dont be like jackalope and make me have to respond to absolute nonsense..
Isnt the type-s more comparable to the ss (non s/c) than the other?

well since you ask... I came on because I originally wanted to buy a brand new Cobalt SS SC.. I did research and asked around and decided it wasnt for me.. I found this site useful and helpfull and still come on from time to time to see IF and WHEN another interesting BALT will be offered.. so when i see someone with the same question i had a year ago.. i answer.. sorry if that offends you.. well actually no im not.. If you want a cheering section for the cobalts go talk to the sales guy.. Im just givin my opinion..

And for the guy that asked if the RSX type-S is more comparable to the base SS? thats talking silly.. Look at the numbers - stock SS SC vs. type S, its closer than you think.. you might be surprised

They're a nice little car with good and bad points but you CAN'T judge a car on how a driver ABUSES it.
statements like these are why your rep points keep growing, lol.

the ss\sc is def in the top 3 if not the best car for the money, simple upgrades, traction control mods, stage 2 smaller puller intake and exhaust, and learn to drive it and you in the 13s easily. it honesty is the best car if you looking for someting fast and inexpensive

I love my 07 SS/SC, its been a great car for the short time I've owned it. I upgraded from an 04 Cavalier. Domestic cars are not usually know for reliabality or resale value but I have never had a problem with any of my cars... I've been driving a Chevy for 14 years now. Like its been said before, if you don't abuse your car (regardless of what you drive) it will last.

Go for the Cobalt!!!

For what it is and the price you pay for a brand new car, it is fast and handles well. Counting all cars (or even just cars that cost 1.5x as much) it is only a quick car, but still handles pretty good.

Your on a Cobalt site, so you can pretty much expect all the members to tell you to get one and all the trolls to tell you not to.

Im not dissing the type-s at all. But imo both non s/c and type-s are 15 sec cars. And both will require a nice chunk of change to get any HUGE gains in performance. All it would take on a s/c is about $500 and you are in another ballpark with a warranty. Type-s isnt even close...

I fear that CERTAIN cobalt owners are beginning to get the VTEC syndrom. (For those of you not familiar, its the 'my cars faster than yours cause its got VTEC, ofcourse these people dont know what vtec means either.') Anyway, The stock balts are not corvettes guys.. Im sure this has been done before on this site, but ignorance is not bliss.. so here we go..

Car and driver stats RSX Type-S..
Zero to 60 mph: 6.2 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 16.6 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph: 6.9 sec
Standing 1/4-mile: 14.9 sec @ 95 mph
Top speed (drag limited): 136 mph.

Now I could spend the time to look for the non supercharged stock SS's numbers.. but I wont.. cause i know it wont do those numbers.. come on! Correct me if im wrong.. but I think those are closer to stock supercharged numbers?

no, good driver can drive a second faster in the 1.4 mile

its up to you to get in a car and drive... whats on paper is on paper. its what you want. so get out there and get in a car and find one that suits you. talking/doing totally different. so find out for yourself

i ******* hate the RSX type-s. you must remeber, with money you can make anything fast. so lets not compare numbers. I know plenty of people that have traded their type-s's for other vehicles. and i have had type-s owners ride in my car and just look at it, and they say, man i wish i would of found one of these.and i dont even know anything about them, and i dont like them. cobaltwanter why the **** do you even come on this site, if all your going to do is bash our cars. i don't get on your ying chang chong forums and bash your **** with wheels do i?

Neg rep away

ohhh, I get it now! because as your post indicates - this forum is only for polite and astute people... lol.. i think we have a winner here guys, atleast the other opinions were constructive..

anyways, im feeling nice, so instead of ripping YOU apart, or the fact that your bashing a culture that i dont belong to (the same one that is leading the world in auto sales, good target)..

I will say this (again). The dude came on to ask about the cobalts reliability.. if ur (i feel sorry for them) friends, get in ur car and love it, yippeee do da day.. That doesnt change the fact that I am advising this guy to look at the RsX type S cause its a similar car.. and in my opinion better made.. Thats my opinion. As for the reason im on this site, pick up ur 'hooked on phonics' and read the entire thread - cause i said why im on it already... Heck read my name. And if your gonna be racist about asia, thats for a different forum, one without me.

a similar car, are you kidding me? and how am I being racists? because I said was Ying Chang Chong? All i stated was my opinion also... This forum is NOT to push people away from the vehicle but rather inform them about the problems that SOME have, and the advantages of owning one. You straight out said, don't buy it, buy this other car, becuase i THINK its better made, and you don't even own one. so your going off of rumors, and nothing YOU have experienced yourself. Thus this is why he asked about OUR experiences with it, which is something you would know nothing about. so, before you open your mouth and start throwing out advice know what your talking about, and experience things yourself. Then maybe you would be useful for something.

A friend of mine used to won an RSX-S. I let him drive my car (07 ss/sc) and he discovered torque and power bellow 5000 rpms. He then started to look for a more powerful car. He now owns an 07 WRX limited. He loves his new car and didnt like his RSX for very long after he bought it. So even though he didnt buy a cobalt, He did get another car that is similar in performance to an ss/sc. Only reason I think he didnt look at a cobalt is because he wanted AWD. If you want a great handling car that performs well the cobalt is a good fit. It was ideal for me.

Look. short of me revealing my life story to you.. I have a very good buddy who owns one.. yes, currently has one right now.. But its not his first, its his second SS SC. The first was a lemon. So he got another one. Guess what.. He says this one his horrible. That there is so many problems, it has taken the fun out of having a cool car. its a constant headache. Things just dont work. Interior peices arnt alined, paint is cheap, etc etc etc.. look im not even going to go on cause you'll quote me about your buddy saying its the best car in the world and that the germans are going to copy it.. But thats a friend of mines story.. Just one source of where i got my information on the car when i wanted to buy it. But why on earth wouldnt i share that to someone asking for help??? Because I might offend ignorant people that think its the greatest car to come out of North America? or the world.. I mean, lets be serious.. making fun of me for speaking my mind does not make the cobalt more reliable. And Im not going to lie to the guy so I can see 'x3' or 'I agree' after my post..

Oh and no, your right, its not similar in my opinion!!

Yeeeees absolute nonsence. I was referring to how YOU were atepting to sell the RSX due to its reliability and I pointed out how Ford has surpasted the imports for reliability in independant survays. Perhapps YOU should concentrate on your reading comprehension skills rather then doll out mis-information on poor vehicle choices.

As for YOUR apples to oranges coment (again READING COMPREHENSION) It was YOU who pointed to reliability I was merely prooving that you are in-accurate in your statement that Forign cars are more reliable by pointing to Ford as the proof.

Really you should work on your skills, or at the vary least try to so as to not look so silly.

I don't do the bickering back and forth thing.. Ive said what said and I stand by that.. the whole bringing up ford is stupid.. cause yes, ford might do well in a skewed quality test, but ill stick with accord over a taurus any day.. but you drive the taurus and you show me!
