The newest keyed Cobalt SS/SC

So just this afternoon I heard a knock at the door to my apartment and opened it to see a local police officer. He said "are you the owner of the blue cobalt outside in the carport" and was like "uhh..yeah". Then he said "your car has been keyed along with another in the next spot over. It's a shame, it's a nice looking car" And then he handed me his card and left saying that the report would be filed in the next few days. I am SO PISSED! It just happened earlier this morning. And the worst part is that I was just getting ready to take it to the dealership on Tuesday to have the Stage II and exhaust put on. I guess I'll have to get a quote from their body shop too.

People are such ********. I mean I've worked hard to get this car and keep it up and looking nice and then somebody f@$5s it up in 30 seconds. It could have been a lot worse, but our insurance deductible for comprehensive is $250 so I am sure I'll be paying the full part of that. I posted some pics below. Does anybody know how much it might be to get this fixed right? and is the dealership a good place to take it? Thanks for the help in advance.

my car was keyed a few months ago , passenger side, from front bumper to back bumper. my deductible was 50 dollars though. it cost like 1000+ but yours isnt as bad as mine was. i know my paint peeled a little bit after i got it back. i dont knwo if it was the dealerships fault or not. but they wouldnt fix it.

thats kinda werid, i got keyed like 3 days before i got my exhaust and st2 installed. ******* hate those ***** who do this. depending how bad yours is, i cant really tell, try useing turtle wax on them, i got two scrathes as you can see and lower one wasnt as bad, i used turtle wax on it and it took the white out of the scratch, if u look close you can tell but if im driving by or whatever you cant tell. the higher scratch was way worse the wax did nothing for it. i got a quote from mr.detail in calgary and they said it would cost approx 750$ CDN. my insurance deductable is 1000$ so insurance wont cover it. anyways good luck with it. maybe ask your landlord or what ever to install cameras in your parkade or somthing.

For it to be done the right way, the door and quarter panel need to be repainted and blend the fender (the whole side needs to be painted) the trunk lid might need to be blended also depending on how high up the scratches are on the quarter panel and how good the shop that does it can match the color. I am a Painter at a Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, BMW, VW dealership body shop.

Oh **** dude, that's just enraging! Some ******* did that to my Cavalier Z24 several years ago a week after I bought it and I was "spittin'-pissed", so I know how u feel.

It's situations like this that explain why I got my Conceal/Carry License and carry a gun with me at all times... I would NEVER shoot someone over my car getting keyed, but I would sure as **** love to press some cold steel against the ******'s head and make him beg forgiveness.

Ask your dealership what paintless dent removal compnay they use. The dent companies usually have a paint guy as well that might be able to do something for you for half the price of a body shop. Just have them look at it and the tech will tell you yes or no.

Thanks for all the information guys. I'll keep you updated on what happens and how the stage II/exhaust install goes. Hopefully the insurance will pick it up after the deductible, but either way I want it fixed right. I know this isn't a ferrari but I don't want to see that thing every time I wash and wax the car. Anybody with any more info to add, feel free to post.

PDR is ok as long as it is done the right way, but whatever you do don't let one of those people that do paint work out of a van or trailer touch your car, they are HACKS. After about 6 months (if not sooner) after they "FIX" your car you will be able to see where the repair was done.

People are so disrespectful! I hear ya, i work in Federal Housing and when my residents get mad at me they go after my car! But not any more since i just had three kids thrown into Juvi for messing with my car! I take my car to the dealership, but they do the best work in town, they are always booked! I would even try some rubbing compound i used it on my cavy, the scratches don't look deep so you could try that or even the turtle wax! I hope everything works out for you!

Thanks again to you guys. It sucks to hear that so many people have had this same problem. Also, I just called my insurance (progressive) and made the claim and they're actually supposed to call me tomorrow even though its memorial day. Hopefully after talking to them they will let me get it fixed while its at the dealer. They offered their concierge service but I declined until I get to talk to the agent. goodnight bump

That just sucks... Everyone around where I live knows that I have cameras looking at my driveway and wouldn't dare try that crap but where I work there are wall to wall ass-wholes that are card carrying members of the Door Throwers of America Society. They all lease their BMWs, Acuras, Range Rovers and Audis and have absolutely no respect for anyone else's property. I had a BMW owning pin head nail my Ranger two weeks after I got it right in the center of the driver door. When I confronted the idiot she denied it so I just had to bite my tongue and wait for the right time to kick her freakin' door in... People suck.

God, that seriously blows. I'm really sorry to hear about your car. Hopefully the scratches won't be too deep.
