I agree totally. You do have to do a little research on their paint techs. Make sure the company is reputible and been in around for a while. All that normal checks and balances.

Mine got broken into, had the windows smashed and all the **** on the inside was gone, good thing I caught the bastard. Hes now in jail for a minimum of 6years cause they slapped him with a felony charge in addition to three class A misdeameanor theft charges. To top it off, the dude used to be my best friend, known him for 3 years.

I didn't read the whole thread, but if someone hasn't suggested touch up paint I will. If its used right it works very very well, you could probably fix the whole thing with $30 worth of paint, sand paper and buffing compound.

the packages give good instructions, but basically its paint and sand, clear and sand, clear and sand, buff, wax, your done.

that sucks man, but be glad thats all you got. I had a friend with a super nice mustang, had the clear totally stripped and recleared with a red/orange pearl on a red car, it was sweet. 3 weeks later someone dumped a bottle of paint stripper on it in a parking lot. things could always be worse.

good luck getting it taken care on!

Same here. Sometimes I get lazy and think it will be ok in the driveway but I always end up just putting it in the garage anyways.

If he gets the paint touched up, I would be so afraid of someone doing it all over again.

Someone had keyed once about 30 inches on the back of the orange Cavalier I used to have and I touched it up myself but it always showed up when the light hit it right.

no people are just jealous dicks, or just plain dicks in general. the wheel caps on the drivers side were stolen off mine, then the next day later on one was thrown in the drive way damaged. i know who it was.... either way i bit the bullet and got two news ones, cause i know he'll be paying soon enough....

It must be the kids. They just don't understand how much it costs to fix it. Don't worry though........they will grow up and buy a new car and some kids will do it to them. It's a shame that they will only know how it feels at that point in time.

Doesn't look very deep. Might just be into the clear. If it is then it is fairly easy to fix.

You can sand it down yourself with a piece of 400 grit sand paper and if you sand away the clear (shiny) and you can see dull blue underneath (don't sand for a long time, once the shiny is gone stop sanding or you will sand right to the metal). If that is the case it just needs to be prepped and a shot of clear. If the scratch is very deep then it will need base + clear which will cost you many more $$$$$.

You are looking at $500-$1000 to fix that I would think (depending on how bad the scratch is).

Good luck.

Well, to all who are interested here is an update on the balt. I took it in to the dealer this morning to have the stage 2 and exhaust put on as planned. When I dropped it off I asked the service guy if I could get a quote from the body shop. He said sure and then I left it. On the way home the insurance called and I explained that it was already at the dealer and it would be very convenient for me to just have them fix it. She said it was no problem to have it done at the dealer but offered me their concierge service (I have progressive) and that with it they give a lifetime warranty on the work that is done. However, if you do this you have no idea who works on the car and what they actually did to fix it, you just pick it up when its done. Its really convenient for some people but I have OCD and can't handle not knowing what's going on with the balt. Especially after this weekend, when I lost all faith in humanity.

So I turned her down and let the dealer do it, because I am sure that the body shop will guarantee their own work as well and fix it right. Anyways, she has to come and look at the car on wednesday after the car is done in the service dept, before the body shop goes to work. So, hopefully I will get my balt back on thursday or friday with a stage 2, exhaust, and no stratches. All I have to pay is my $250 comprehensive deductible and $300 for the stage 2/exhaust install. This is all assuming that no major problems happen in the meantime. Hopefully I will get her back prettier, faster, and better sounding than ever!
