NLS yay or nay

I just want to hear feedback

I know before anyone knew what exactly or fully understood it, people thought it would "bust" the car etc. I like the fact it keeps the turbo spooled. Granted I finally learned today you had to be at 6300... guess I should've looked at the tach more closely and put 2 and 2 together.

Do other turbo cars really lag between shifts?

I know I took my one friend for a drive since my tune and intake and he was shocked.. I just laughed and said not bad for a 2.0 huh?

this really sucks having 2 cars to mod.. grrr..

You don't have to be at 6300... I usually do it at 58-5900 to make up for the slight lag that our tachs have.

^^^this although i usually only nls 1-2 at the track bc it is pretty violent and i have had it lead to tire shake/wheel hop on the street but only once nls every other gear, raced a mustank the other day and held him of till over 110 bc he couldnt shift and was loosin 1/2 to 3/4 of a car each time he shifted wher i was bangin nls gunfire in his window and losin maybe a foot on each shift it makes a real difference and other cars especially ones with too big of turbos fall on ther face every gear shift see a 1.6l honda with a 60trim at 7psi pitifull

it won't hurt your car if done properly. it was designed for it.. although i've heard it's not recommended with an mild or agressive aftermarket tune.

ya but you gotta be damn good at it to do it right every time. I used to be able to do it all the time. After a while my car started locking me out of gears when I did it. Shifter started to feel really loose, plus I was making more and more power. The turbo spools so fast that if you can shift the car fast normally it's almost not worth it. Plus, if you're tuned you run the risk of blowing the tranny, many people tuned have done so. Also NLSing is the most common way to pop out the shift linkage.

I've only ever been locked out of a gear when I did it too late on 1st -> 2nd. That's why I started doing it at 58-5900 because your RPMs shoot up too fast for the tach to keep up in first. Every other gear I do it at 59-6100 and I've never had a problem.

But like people said, don't use NLS when you're making decently more power, the tranny will start to go on you.

Talking Yay !!

Not all the time , mind you - mainly 2 to 3 & 3 to 4.

It's a weird feeling/mindset at first to keep it floored while shifting, but you get used to it.

I am just afraid that now if I drove somebody elses manual car I would try to do the same thaing !

My .02.

I have about 1000 nls under my belt. Lol. Once you start getting locked out of a gear tho while using nls id stop. Its an early warning that your pressure plate will take a ****.

I do it almost daily haha getting on the highways and such. Sweet spot seems to be right around 5800-6000 rpm's. Never done a 1-2 nls, typically just 2-3 and 3-4. Never had any issues and YES, it is amazing. The sounds this car makes during a nls if you're catless is GODLY!!!

i agree some people pull way to hard when shifting and risk breaking hte roll pin. i can usualy shift fast enough that i don't lose much boost and it almost sounds the same as NLS'ing. then again im on the GM tune not aftermarket. if i was custom tuned i wouldn't risk it.

A Hyundai salesman was going off about how slow Cobalts are to my one friend when she was test driving a V6 Genesis. He took her up to 180km/h in it. I'm still tempted to go take him for a rip in my GMS1 and take him to 240. :P
