This is the second time I have heard about this...someone else on this board mentioned it happened to their pontiac pursuit...this is not a good sign...I currently own a ford focus and this has happened twice to it...it cost $300 both times to have it replaced...its a known problem yet ford wont do a recall on it...and yet they want us to buy domestics Ha!

I agree this is my first new car and I decided to go domestic. I really think that this will be that last one. I can't have a car breaking down on me every 400 miles...

No car is perfect -- even foreign cars have breakdowns too. The difference is the (biased) media doesn't publicize the problems with foreign cars as much as the problems with domestics, so that just adds to the perception that foreign cars are better, which I don't necessarily agree with.

I think I saw in the owners manuel a section on what to do if the key gets stuck. It shows you step by step what to do with that little hole on the bottom of the steering wheel

I believe every vehicle out there has had this problem. I use to work at a used car dealership, among the brands associated with this are, saab, honda, mazda, oldsmobile, nissan, and chevy. It's a comon thing, all of which have simple mechanical tricks to release the key (read your owners manual.) . Even the simplest mechanics can fail - I understand your frustration. I do not, however, understand how this incident ties into the whole domestic market.

yeah.. but he was saying that it wasn't a problem with the key getting in and out, but a problem with the key not actually turning in the ignition.

Very true, not car is perfect. Even imports have problems.. like this one ricer down here.. automatic transmission civic.. fully riced.. Drives by.. and all you hear is his fart cannon getting louder and louder.. sounds like his RPMs are at about 4 grand, 5.. 6.. 9.. 12!!!!.. then Silence. Whoops.. His dad isn't gonna be to happy about that. I just laughed to myself.
