Noob questions

Hello there, just joined up to get some info for now. I'm going to look at a 05 cobalt SS on saturday, just wondering what i should be looking for or what would be some problem areas to watch for, other than the normal used car things. And don't bother flaming me for my username. Yes i have an srt-4 but i also love the cobalts.

First off, welcome to the site! Secondly, there's no problem with the user name, there are plenty of guys on here with SRT-4's. As far as things to look for on the '05 SS, make sure that it has the g85 package because the LSD that comes with it is a huge plus. As far as everything else, I'll let the 2.0 guys chime in. Again, welcome!

Common issue from a performance standpoint

1. Low efficiency Air/Heat caused by the roots supercharger causing excess heat when trying to spin it pass it's efficiency range

2. Oversizing fuel injectors with a return-less fuel system causing cylinder #4 to be deprived of fuel.

3. Excess wheel hop causing axles to snap...doesn't happen to often but it has happened but is a common thing for FWD vehicles if taking hard launches.

That's all I can think of.

In my personal opinion, if you're doing this for from a performance standpoint, keep your SRT-4. You have more aftermarket support and room for growth in such a beastly stock engine.

Its not for me, its for my girlfriend. She's wants to upgrade from her mx-6 to something with some *****, and she loves the cobalt ss. I'm going to look at it since i get to make the payments for her. I'll probably drive it as much as her though since my skittle is pretty low and our highways are complete crap here. If i buy one it'll be staying mostly stock and will probably never see a track. Thanks for the help any more suggestions are appreciated.
