Is Onstar worth it?
I think its worth it, they can locate your car if its jacked, unlock your doors if you lock the keys inside, or lock your doors for you if you forget, the phone is cool to have just in case, vehicle diagnostic checks. its pretty nice things to have in your car. they kno if airbags deploy etc etc...but i think its more preference. me personally enjoy having it, and the unlock thing really works locked my keys in the car the ohter day and instead of goin in with a hanger and flat head screw driver like i used to....bam unlocked. i like.

When I ordered my car, you could not get side impact air bags without getting On-Star. So for me, OnStar was just an extra part with the air bag order. I love the built in phone. I use virtual advisor for traffic while driving home.
so 1200.00 dollars to unlock your car doors doesnt seem like a waste of money to you? A tow truck driver can do it in 5 minutes for like 30 bucks.
Its only good for old people who dont understand cars, and blondes.
Ask my mom that question. Two weeks ago she was shopping and accidentally locked her keys in her trunk. She was miles away from home and no one was home to bring her a spare key to start the car. Onstar popped the locks and saved the day.
i dont think its worth it.. maybe to some people. but i never use it.. i've never locked my keys in my car. casue i carry a spare remote in my other pocket just in case.. i dont know.. maybe if they could tell you where to find some booty, or where in the hell i lost my left shoe last night, and tell me how to gid rid of this hangover.. then maybe its worth it..
i had trouble finding the car i wanted (no sunroof) and when i did it didn't have onstar, i really wish that i had it.
hmmm...a merger of onstar and myspace....

It all depends on what you want to do. If you go on trips you aren't familiar with than the nav can be useful. If you live in a bad area, then the vehicle tracking will also be a plus. But if you only get it in case you lock yourself out, then it isn't worth it.
That's fine and watch the tow truck driver f your **** up!!
if your buying onstar just incase your car gets "jacked" like stated above...dont worry. the car is steal free (unless you leave the keys in the car).
the alarm in the car is a passive car alarm....
meaning, you lock the doors, theres no flashing light....if they brake your window...no alarm.....but once they pull that lock up, and open the door.....it goes off...
if they reach in and hit the unlock button, it will go off (in certain conditions), but the car is unstartable without the key.

onstar would be a waste for me. I've never locked my keys on my car. it takes an extra 2 seconds to make sure they are in my pocket before i shut the door. making sure i have my keys saves me 1200 a year i guess. as for navigation call me old school but a paper map has never failed me.
I think it is well worth it, jus yesterday i was at the car wash and my car rolled 5 feet into the wash, then bam the automatic locks locked all the doors. called onstar and in less then 1 min they unlocked my driver door
everybodys forgeting to tell you about the collision air bag deployment. onstar calls when they deploy...if you dont answer, they call for help for you AND tell the proper help WHERE to go!!!! lets see AAA do that.
i personally used it when my car died in the middle of no where. now i know where i am at, but when i called onstar they TOLD me i was x miles from state rd y. comes in real handy if you want someone to get to you fast. they by the way put me thru to the 1 800 chevy number for roadside assist... which i might also say i could not do, since i was not even close to being in range with my cell phone. the phone in the onstar is still cellular, but has a lot higher output than a hand held phone, its a lot like the old bagphones....
yes its worth the money.

My dad had onstar and it was pretty cool for awhile, there real nice we never had the directions package but if we called the lady would always point us in the right direction, even though she didn't have too. After awhile it was just a waste though, spend the 1k on a sweet navigation system that will tell you traffic.
I think in the 4 years we used Onstar, we used the key thing once? And that was just to test it lol. Always keep a spare key in your wallet or something and you wont have a problem
BTW, if you get in a crash, and your electrical system takes a hit, good luck getting the Onstar system to work and call you
Halfcent, are you serious about our car's alarm? Its actually good?
