Opening door without using unlock?

This is a problem that has bothered me since day 1. When I try to leave my 09 SS/TC, I have to unlock all the doors or manually pull up on the door lock in order to get out. If I keep the doors locked and pull the handle, nothing happens as if I have the child safety locks enabled but this is on a 2-door coupe.

Is there a fix for this? None of my Fords have this problem, even the newer ones.

I went into my car. And it does the same thing. Just never noticed it. lol I think because the car is a 2 door they did that, just due to, if a little kid trys opening up the door.

Yeah it always takes getting used to when driving my Fords for awhile. With a Ford, the inside handle opens the door whether it is locked or unlocked.

The only thing I can see to change is the AUTO UNLK feature in the DIC, although I am not sure if I feel safe with the Driver or All doors automatically unlocking when I turn off the ignition.

some cars you can program, others you cant. Doesn't bother me as i don't mind deciding whether to unlock the doors, based on where i am, or not. Wifes grand cherokee automatically unlocks with key turning, and it would be easier to car jack. Totally fine with hitting the unlock myself, my dakota is the same way. Just a prefernce, dont want someone being able to slide in my passenger side when i shut the car off.

its just the auto unlock in the DIC, you can set it to off, on driver, on both iirc... mine just does it for both... always has, i have no reason to change it..

I just prefer the inside handle to open the door, Ford has done that for over 30 years. I'm not sure why GM had to do something funky.

I have never heard of them doing that. I know at about 5mph they lock then once you turn the key off they unlock on their own.

i find it annoying to if your dropping someone off and they reef on the handle and almost rip it off because there used to other cars doors just auto unlocking, i know its something small, but still irritating
