I'm guessing by a dealer that already had a few brand new ones on the lot so he offered a low ball to try to steal it.

All of the used Cobalt SS/SCs I've seen used hear near Hershey Pa are priced at about only $1,000 less than a new one.

I bought my 2.2 for 17,700 after tax tag and ****,

12 weeks later i wanted to trade it in for the SS-SC at 0% and they wanted to give me 13,900 for my car it only had 1800 miles on it and i added SRI and Rims.

haha i had to be asked to leave after I told the guy" You have to be ******* kidding me this is a crock of ****, you should take this offer and shove it up your ass." and then i told the lady sittin at the front desk to **** her self when she said i need to leave.

Lets just say it wasnt a good day, the guy kept me there for 4 hours checkin different things lookin for a SS/SC for me and wanted to charge me 1800 more than another dealer for the same packadge and then offer me that little for my car. **** um

The dealer is going to rape you on a trade in which is why you never trade in a car. Always sell it outright. I bet you can get 4 grand more through a private sale. My Dad used to sell cars and he told me it's their job to break it off in your ass on a trade in.

im not trying to trade it in, but i am getting fucked on my lease. just viewing my options. DOnt worry guys im a Die hard cobalt lover. If for any reason i lost/ traded/ broke the lease on this car i would most definately get another one.

the 14000 value was calculated by the dealership.

The only good thing about trading it in is that you only pay the tax on the difference between the trade in value and the value of a new car. So depending on the difference of trade in value vs private sale it might be a wash in the end, and you wouldn't have to deal with a private sale.

when you trade in they take off the value anything that they would need to replace to get it back to stock. so all your mods save stage 2 would have to come off and they would need to replace it with stock parts. so take your sri and wheels n tires off n put the stockers back on then take it back. they dont usually like to sell modified cars because people modify them to their tastes/liking and its hard to find two people with the same taste. and like he said the second you drive the car off the lot its only worth 70% what you bought it for.

Not always true with all cars and all dealers. I had hub caps on the slowbalt when I bought it and they arn't going to charge me the price of steelys and caps if I traded it in with my 19's. Also 70% is a little high on the next day depreciation.

slowbalt it is true anything you add different from factory will depricaiate your car more and if u trade in they ill give you less. im sure they would keep your rims on and sell them with the car but they aren gonna pay for them. as in you can get a civics acords tose type cars fully modified for around what you would pay for a used one and the rreason why is i dont think your mom needs 20 tvs in her civic for example so dealer may or may not like what u done but reguardless they will give u less for your car no matter what they do with your rims etc

when you walk into the dealership just tell them to give you an estimate on the trade-in value of your car. Then go back like 2 weeks later and tell them you want to buy a new car, then after you try to gew them down as much as possible to get the cheapest your gonna get outta them, then that is when you tell them "ok well you quoted me this much for my current car(give them the quote they printed out for you) and you quoted me this much for this new car, i want to trade my old one in. If they know your coming in for a trade in they with either hold steady and not budge on the sticker price or they will low ball your trade in value. Happens all the time top innocent people.

Eventually I can't wait to trade it in next year if that is what the outcome is when I have a vendor meet with GM and my dealership soon about this car.
tell me more about vendor meet with gm hows that work i also have a very large history conected to my vin

took my dc5 to the dealer to get a quote on a trade in. my car: 2004 acura rsx type S w/ 30,000 miles. they told me, if i were to put everything back to stock they would give me $17,000. next day i took off every single modified part and returned it back to stock. once i sell all my parts i'll have over $3,000. went back to the dealer, did the inspection and gave me $17,000 for my 04 rsx and i picked up my 06 TL w/ nav. i still owed around $14,000 for my rsx so i had some equity. i'm very satisfied w/ my trade in and new purchase.

Edmunds has me at $14,600, and I have $11,300 left on my loan, so I'm still ahead and will remain so.

I have traded many a new cars. And, yes I do have negative equity, but not as much as one might think. I got my Redline for 19k, drove it for 6 months put 7000 miles on it and traded it in for 16,500 for the Neon SRT-4. That was roughly 700 of negative equity. Then after beating the **** out of the neon and going through stage 2 and stage 1 + WGA, I got 17k for the neon with 6000 miles on it, I paid 19,100 for the Neon, I posted another 600 probably, then I bought a Jetta GLI. So all in all I got great trade in values for my cars. The reason is because I sold the salesman and his used car manager(s) on the fact of how much I wanted their car, and that I could only get into it if I got X for my trade. They always low balled me, but ended up 3k higher than when we started negotiations. Its all about sales, whether your selling the car or selling your enthusiasm. You know they are just going to take your trade in and rape some idiot for like 3k over the value they gave you. They would rather sell one of their new cars than make money off of your trade in.

I used to sell new and used cars at a pontiac, nissian, bmw dealership so I know for a fact that a dealer wont give you less for trade because you added rims. I understand a highly moddified car is not something a dealer wants but if the mods are small like decent looking rims, different headlight bulbs, painted bowtie then the dealer will give decent money for the car. They arn't going to give more money because it is modded but they also arn't going to give less than book becuase you added a few things to it. Also it is really going to depend on the type of buyers in the market. If the sales manager thinks that they will be able to sell a car fast because it has nice rims and a few other things he will be more willing to put money into the trade. If he thinks the only people coming in to buy are older people that want a bone stock car then the upgrades are wothless to him.
