random misfire - p0300

if a spark plug is loose or comes out with the boot check the threads arent blown

LNF/LSJ/L61/LE5/LAP?

Miles, mods?

But being random misfire code I'd say plugs need replaced.

This happens to my car also if I sit at idle for a while. Then I drive around for awhile and it goes away. I've changed plug and still the same I think mine is maybe new coil packs. Good luck with your car hope you get it fixed.

weak coils are very susceptible to heatsoak, ive had several car's that only suffered with misfires on the hottest of summer days, but usually this was on single coil car's not COP equipped car's.

lol i had a car that was fine all year round, if the temp went above 95 degrees, after 10 minutes of driving it would start sputtering and get progressively worse until it would barely accelerate from how bad the misfires were. Replaced the ignition coil, problem dissappeared. lol

Hah, as soon as I saw the title. I'm like, "Here's another one.." That happened to me and DSmastery up there.

You're gonna need a helicoil, timesert, or new head. Proposed cause of this is a cross threaded plug.

DS and I have ours fixed with a helicoil. I will say the car sounds sweet running on 3 cylinders.

This, you have a good torque wrench and mechanical know how pull the head and insert the helicoil or a new head, if you don't give to the dealer or your mechanic to install the helicoil or a new head

Would probably be the better way to do it, but the mechanic I had do it did it with the head on and the car's been solid since the repair. Almost a year now.

Mine sounds like a Subaru sometimes right now. Check engine light is always on and flashes occasionally. Started a few days ago. Mods are intake, exhaust, charge pipe, intercooler and tune. Mods haven't changed in about a year. Mileage is 42K.

I pulled the codes. P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303 and P0304. Pulled the plugs. Everything looked good except plug 1. It was a bit more fouled and there was oil on the threads. It was a little loose. So I put in new OEM plugs and cleared the codes. The CEL came on again. It flashes only at low speeds in first or second. Highway driving is fine. It's just when driving through neighborhoods or taking off that it has a problem.

I guess I'll clean the MAF and change the oil. It's due and is showing the oil at 59%. If that doesn't work, I'll change the coil packs. If that doesn't work, I'll put a new head and gaskets on there.

Lemme know if anyone has any other suggestions.

FML. LOL.

yea the oil on the plug is the cause, got a bad seal / gasket.

car is just misfiring badly at low rpms, the flashing cel. i mean u have random misfires and specific ones which isnt good.

i havent see too many lnfs blowing threads, so as long as the plugs thread your good. but the sooner the leak gets fixed the better

Thanks for the help.

Since the car is at 42K miles and it needs an oil change, I figure I'll just go ahead and:

- seafoam
- new oil
- new plugs
- new evap purge solenoid
- new coil packs
- new valve cover gasket

Then clear the CELs and hope that nothing pops up for a while. If it keeps doing it.... well I'll be pissed.

So you replaced the plugs and same issue? Do you have a LNF (your user name makes me think you have a LSJ or LE5)
