Exclamation Price

How much would one of the cobalt ss/sc cost with the employee discount? Just curious my grandpa used to work for GM.

It's up to the dealer what the final price is. There is no discount for an employee's family. I wouldn't expect any discounts on the SS/SC unless it's been on the lot for a while.

I also believe the GM employee discount for everyone is over.

They have done this on previous cars with my grandpa's permission. My dad got a Z71 silverado that got marked down 9000 dollars as a result of the discount

Alright well you got some special deal worked out then.

Her is the link to the current GM specials.

http://www.chevrolet.com/specialoffers/

My dad is an employee too and they couldn't get me anything under his discount. In the past yes, in the present no.

I bought my SS with my dad's discount back in September. We had to contact GM online to get an authorization code for the family discount. He can get like 6 or 8 codes for the year to give to family and friends. He just did it again recently for my cousin to get a car. I don't remember the web address off the top of my head but, of course, he had to give GM all his employee information. We had an authorization code in minutes to take to the dealer.
My car stickered for $18,900. I got it for $16,676.

I second this one. Did the exact same thing! Very simple, took about 10% off the top.

I just bought my 06 SS last week using my Uncle's discount (GM Friends in the Driveway program). MSRP was $19,255... invoice was $18,114... and my price was right around $17000 plus tax and plates. Now of course the SS/SC would be higher, but at least that gives you an idea.

I just bought my '06 SS/SC last week. With the employee discount, the final price was 20 thousand and change. I believe it's around 3 percent below INVOICE. This price is already determined by GM for every vehicle manufactured. It is pre-determined and is non-negotiable. Also, any rebates and other incentives will still apply. Keep in mind howevere, sometimes the dealership may have their own sale going on wich could actually be cheaper than the employee price.

Also, I believe there is a FREINDS discount, which can be used 2 or 3 times per year for non-family members and is approx 1 percent below invoice. I know Ford and Chrysler have this. not positive about GM.

That is the program that I went through. Only spouses, children, parents, and siblings can receive the family discount from what I understand. This is why I had to use the Friends in the Driveway discount through my uncle.

It is limited per year. The person giving you the discount has to call and register you and get a confirmation code for you. You then give that confirmation code and your information to the dealer.

I also got the GMS discount because my Grandfather worked for GM.

I leased a 06 SS 2.4 with a sticker of 18,900 and my GMS discount was around $1,900.
I believe that the discount is 9% of the sticker price.

I am almost positive that the GMS applies to grandchildren, although I did have my Grandmother as the primary signer on the car and myself as a co-signer ( I needed that 800+ credit score to get a really good payment.

Correct, I ordered 2 Cobalts in the last 5 months and they were both 9% off the sticker price.

That's not true. GM employees are allowed to use their discount i believe twice a month or somthing like that. My dad works for GM. I used his discount to buy my GF's zr2 2004 blazer. We bought it in 05, so with the discount because it was an 04, and my fathers discount, a 32000 dollar truck cost her 22000. But you are correct about the first sentence. The dealer doesn't have to accept it.

Most employee pricing is left to the dealer's discretion. At mine, I and my immediate family can purchase a vehicle at $100 above dealer cost. Parts are at cost plus 10% cash only not charged.

The dealer does NOT have to participate. However, if does participate, the price is pre determined by GM. It is listed on the invoice towards the bottom. It will show the invoice price, employee price, and retail price. This is printed on the invoice for every vehicle manufactured. And most dealers will participate in the program.

GMS is GM supplier discount not GM family discount or maybe it's not I can't remember... I got this through my company and I got an authorization code. But it's not less than invoice. If you work for GM and get a discount thats another program. And the dealer can just knock that off the price for anyone anyways.

We went through all this like years ago when us 2005 people were still waiting for our cars and have nothing better to talk about

https://www.gmsupplierdiscount.com/ip-gmsupplier/

Anyhow I paid sticker for my car but I got a deal allowance on my trader than accounts to like 4k in discounts. You can work a deal lots of ways.

The GM supplier discount is for people who work for a company associated with GM.
For example, I used to drive truck. My company hauled cars for GM. We were authorized the supplier discount.
Supplier discount is not as much as family member discount. I believe it is slightly higher than invoice.
