Problem with Headlight

So I had one go on me last night, went out right away and got 2 new bulbs and decided to go a little bit brighter. This morning I woke up and put the first one in with no issues, but the second one was different.

The "retainer ring" I think it's called, the piece that is supposed to twist and lock into place to secure the bulb, isn't twisting into place. It keeps getting caught and won't go any further. Tried to press down, make sure the bulb was in and get it under those little notches but it won't go. I have it juuuust barely under the little notch...but I really don't want to leave it that way.

Any suggestions??

i had this happen when i went to silverstar ultras or whatever the **** they are. itll go. its just a PITA. and takes some real muscle. it has to do with the bulb not setting correctly. my issue was that the o-rings around the actual bulb were just a SMIDGE to big and it took some muscle and a lil bit of wd-40 to get them to set correctly so i could get the black twisty thingy on. if you get frustrated with it just take a 15-20 minute break. because if your anything like me. youll get pissed and break something on accident when ur just trying to get it to work

I figured that might be the problem. I'll try again tomorrow since it won't be freaking snowing when I do it this time LOL. Thanks for the advice! I'll have to report back with the results.

what i did to help set the bulb was just sprayed a lil wd-40 on my fingertip and lubed up the o-ring, because you dont want to get anything inside the actual headlight housing. my reccomendation would be just spend 75$ and get a HID kit and ull be alot happier haha

maybe i just had badluck then. but the o-ring was just a smidge to big and didnt want to let the bulb seat. but just rubbed a lil wd-40 around the oring and it went right in

well I used a little WD-40 on the retainer ring and it still took a lot of force, but I managed to turn it all the way!! so happy haha. I honestly don't even know much about the HID kits. Maybe it's something to look into the next time a bulb goes!!
