Problems?

Im considering getting a Cobalt or G5 but ive got some questions..

Do they share the same engines as the cavaliers? I know many people that have had problems with the engines knocking and blowing up.

Any problems with transmissions or anything?

Ive also heard the engines have problems with the piston rings? Any truth to this?

What engine you reccomend for decent power and good gas milage?

Would you choose these cars over an older Import?

Thanks in advance or any replies

Get an SS/SC, its fun and peppy, but wont hurt your pocket on gas. I get 26 city and 32 Highway....Engines are improved over the cavy and with 100k warrenty it prolly wont blow up

yes they share the same engine but newer with a bit more power. blowing up is if you decide to go F/I without upgrading the internals properly

MT is fine unless you wanna smash it every weekend

the piston rings will fry if you make them

all 3 trim levels get great gas mileage. the SS/SC runs premium and has less MPG but still great for its class. its all about your preference

these dont even compare to imports...

everything depends on the modifications you plan to make. plan ahead if you decide to go big. good luck!

The later model year Cavaliers had L61 Ecotec engines. The Cobalt has three different Ecotec engines. And in the current model year, none of them are the same as the Cavalier. They still have the L61, but it has been redesigned.
