problems with my cold air
problems with my cold air
k so i recently purchsed an injen cold air intake for my car i installed it properly and i took the car for a couple test runs without a bumber and just the intake properly installed...wen i got bak to the shop to put the bumber back on we noticed that the bumper wouldnt fit because of the injen air filter that was too long so it wouldnt allow us to fit the bumber properly without bending and breaking the filter....i wanted the car right? so i went to crappy tire and bought a ractive air filter...lol i know....kk so i went bak to the shop put the filter on and it fit snugg and nice and in the end we wer able to put the the bumper bak on with the ractive cone...couple hours later after the car was done everything pout bak on...i decided to hear wat my intake sounded like and whatt ballz my car had now...as soon as i pinned it my engine light turns on i wa slike wtf? so i keep driving anf i reach a red light when i got the car in gear and started going my car started to bogg as if i was just learning how to drive or soemthign loll ..i decided to reset my battery maybe it will function after i do that since maybe the computer doesnt recognize the intake yet..ive done that like 3 times already and the same problems hapens..the car boggs around in all the gears and its a very very weird ride because u feel the car as if it wants to do something bad..and yes my engine light is always on..... anyone out there with this problem or someone that could help me out??? culd it be the air firlter itself it sucking in too much air comapred to the injen cone?? or the mass air flow censor iunno?
I don't know how to help you on this one, but i can give you some infor that helped me out when i had injen troubles.
1) Don't remove the front bumper when installing a Injen, just remove the plastic wheel well lining and wheel.
2) Injens, and many CAI, are notorious for setting off check engine lights (CELs)
3) You are not the first nor the last to have fitment issues with the injen.
When you reset the battery, make sure to fully disconnect it and leave it disconnected for at least 10-15 minutes.

You may want to check and see exactly which CEL you are getting. Make sure the cone isn't too restrictive, you may not be getting enough air. I would also check to make sure the MAF isn't damaged.
......
i went to another shop and they told me it might be that the engine is receiving too much air throwing off the engine light and making the car bogg......

Do us all a favor and go to an Autozone or Pep Boys and have them read the code. I'm guessing you threw the P0171 which is a lean code caused by the intake letting in a higher airflow than the MAF can read. Most people can have this issue fixed in a few minutes with HP Tuners setting the fail or something like that. Let's not jump to conclusions until you actually get the code read, though...
k well i live in canada so there is no autozone or pep boys ......either way ill get it checked out at my shop....wen i disconnect the ecu and let it sit like that for a while then turn the car back on there is no engine light and the car runs fine no bogging no probelms all i hear is my intake and the car and it runs like new but as i keep driving it keeps getting worse and worse with the bogging and the engine light turns on lol..iunno ....im not the smartest with cars so im not gonna argue with anyone im not clueless either some help is nice tho.. thx for the ppl tryin to help...cuz honestly the car is starting to **** me off ..ppl on the road prob think im some idiot with an expensive car that doesnt know how to drive it lol....
Sorry for your luck, I installed the Injen 3 months ago. I unhookded the battery and left the bumper on during the install. No rubbing of the intake anywere on the body or bumper and it rains or is wet here in Germany 5 out of 7 days a week, like I said no CEL's or any other problems.
ihave an injen intake on my ls for over a year and just recently it threw a code.. So i took up to the dealer and it came back the cat converter...but they say they wont fix it till i put the factory intake back on.. but i cant get out there and put it back on just yet considering i just had a new baby monday..

then again, this isn't a warranty issue. but still, the same principle should apply
go back to your dealer, tell them to fist themselves and to fix your code. they shouldn't be able to say anything about your mods if it doesn't directly affect the problem, ESPECIALLY when they are making you pay for it.
just curious, why would we have to disconnect the battery after installing the intake? i personally never did it and after 7 months, i haven't had a cel or anything

wen my car was in the shop gettin some body work done to the bumper because of some idiot i installed the intake cuz it was easy and no obstructions...took the car out of the shop without a bumper or hood and with the intake on and it was fine went up and down the street like 6 or 7 times and no light came on and the car was running fine.....then when we were putting on the bumper the intake rubbed agains the inside of the bumper.(i culd of left it that way but i didnt because u could easily feel the cone if u rubbed ur hand lightly on the outside of the bumper..anwyays went to canadian tire and bought a ractive cone and put it on the intake...couple hours after i took my car out of the shop fixed with the ractive cone...the cel decides to come on and the car starts running like crap form there on end until i disconnect my battery again...because when i do that the car runs fine liek nothing ever happened....its weird and its really starting to **** me off... now what i will try is to somehow fit the injen cone bak on the intake and see if that fixes all my problems.....wut do u guys think?
and by the way thx for helping out guys...
