Yes, you will. Your warrenty covers repair and replacement of a product and service you willing elected to purchase. Now that you have decided you don't want it any more, it's not the shops problem.

Each time you have been pulled over, have been you released or fined?

Hrmmm this is gonna be fun.....

I have a window tinting & graphics business so I can help you out here.

#1 FYI Your tint is illegal according to the state of New York Your tinter should have known that. According to the State of NY 70% VLT (Visable light transmission, which it the amount of light that passes through the glass) is allowed on the front Drivers & Passenger side windows. Not 20% For example, Limo is 5% (only allows 5% of light through) 70% for the rear windows (the small eye windows and windows on a 4 door car), and Any shade for the Rear Back Glass.

#2 If you payed only $120 for all 5 windows then your obviously dealing with a hack tinter and he will be out of business in less than 2 years. Trust me on this one. I have seen several guys who think they can tint windows and only charge $99 for a car and do hack jobs only to go out of business that year or the next. Ask any professional window tinter that has been around for more than 5 years and they will tell you a price for 5 windows will be $180-$220 depending on how busy they are. (check the phone book & see for yourself)

#3 Like the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for."

#4 The lifetime warranty that you think you bought is only for color fading or large bubbles that appear over time. This does not include scratches or tears in the tint. Also, there is no such thing as a lifetime warranty. ALL window film will fade after a certian time, some fade in a few months, some in a few years, but most after about 8 years, and by this time I highly doubt you'll still have that car.

#5 You mentioned it was tinted over a year ago and its now starting to peel? I highly doubt the tinter will replace it for you for free, maybe a 10% off retail, but certianly not for free. If it started peeling a month after you got it then I would say yes, go right back to the tinter and he should replace it for you for free. But after a year, after you only paying $120, I highly doubt he'll replace it for you for free.

#6 If you just want your film removed. You can easily do it yourself in about 10 minutes. Just peel off the tint, take a squirt bottle and mix about 3-4 oz of rubbing alchohol with the rest water and spray down the glue on the window then take a razor blade and scrape off the glue.

#7 This backs up #2. The reason why I know your tinter is a "hack" tinter is because no professional automotive window company will dissobey thier states laws. Reason being is because if an illegal tinted car gets into an accident and a driver is killed, Insurance companies will try to blame the accident on decreased visability. Then they find out who tinted the vehicle and go after them. I've seen it happen.

#8 Respectable professional tinters, who may seam to you to be expensive, know the law and obeys the law, this is what keeps them in business. They stay in business because they do more higher end cars and take thier time with them doing them right. They don't waste their time with garbage cars with kids looking for the cheapest tint job (which falls back on the "get what you pay for") If you pay $20,000+ for a vehicle, don't skimp on a $99 tint job. You'll never see a corvette owner with tint falling off or bubbleing up because they payed to have their tint done professionaly.

My advice... Call up the tinter and tell him that he tinted your car over a year ago and now have a window that is peeling off. Ask him if he'll just strip the Drivers and Passengers windows off instead of asking him to replace the peeling window. He may do that. If not, save yourself some money and spend 10 minutes doing it yourself.

Nice advice. My tinter took care of me. One difference however; He knew the laws here in Illinois (anything in the back is legal, nothing on the front), and said he is perfectly allowed to tint any window I want him to, but that if I tinted the front windows, it was not street legal.

You see people all the time here in Illinois with illegally tinted front windows. BioHazard did it, got busted for it, and since removed it. But people still do it. My shop was very up front about it. "Yeah, its legal for us to put it on your car, but then its illegal for you to drive it."

Also, they scratched through a defroster line when they installed my rear window. When we discovered it, they removed the film, had it fixed, and replaced the film, no charge.

Thats the difference between a professional tinter and a hack tinter. Your $99 special tinter will not do that, they will make up an excuse that it was a bad defroster line and it wasn't them.

tint laws are stupid..... especially illinois. You can put ANY tint ont he back window and back side, and none on the front. You should be able to have a limited amount on any side so its visible throught he car.

Michigan is the only state with a law allowing only a 4" strip on the front-sides, which is also retarded. It's a question mark on that link, but should say 4".

Each time you get pulled over and get a ticket does the fine increase? also what happens if you get a fix it ticket and don't fix it? Then will you have to pay a fine?

Tint laws are not stupid, they are for the officers saftey as he approaches your car. I think they are fine personally. Big deal you can't tint your fronts, you will live. Yes it looks nice but if it saves someones life it's worth not being uber cool to have not have tint.

I say this because I have a cousin that's a state trooper and I am glad there are laws like this to protect her from the scum of the earth who might be hiding behind tints with a gun.

id partly agree with this. a pro will at least tell you that its illegal not just nod and say ok. the place i got mine done is the best place in town, and they told me that theyde tint it 20% up front but it would be illegal and not warrantied. so i backed up and went to 35%. it was 220 without the sunstrip and it would have been 240 with it. made no sense to do 1.5" sunstrip since the ASI line is so high up
