So this morning I was on my way to work and lately I havent been driving all mario andredii out just normal trying to save a little gas. So anyways as I was getting off the freeway a bike cop was in front or me and another bike cop passed by on the other rode so the cop took off in that direction as well. This street is kind of tricky theres a five way yeild area no stops just have to yeild all going in a circle so if you dont get off you can keep going in a circle. I got off the free way and came to the first yeild area and the cop was gone. I dont know if he stopped and hid behind the truck at the gas station that was at the corner or what but I didnt see him or the other cop around anymore. I saw a slow van moving towards me i let him pass and then got out of the my yield stop and passed up the van. I was like 1/4 mile from work when a the bike cop comes up behind me I guess he must have just gone around the circle insteaed of getting off in a direction. He followed me for a bit and then turned on his lights on me. I was almost to work so I didnt pull off right away to the right because I was in the left lane and my work is on the left side so i waited about a min to get to my work parking lot and stopped in there. I stopped in there because I was late to work and I didnt have a cell phone so I could call to let them know I was going to be even more late than what I was so I pulled in there so they could see why. I made the signals and what not, he comes out and he asks me the license and registratiion, I only have had my car for about 3 weeks now, he asked if i knew why he pulled me over,I said "no" I thought he was going to say for speeding but I wasnt really going that fast. Then he said because of "moddified exhaust" I just got my apex muffler on the 2nd day I got my cobalt. When the cop was around I was just shifting at 3000 rmps so it wouldnt be all that loud. Then he starts saying stuff about why didnt I just pull over right away how did I know he was going to pull me over and not an emergency before I could even tell him why he interupts me to tell me just to pull to the side right away. He was just a dick. I asked him so is it a ticket or a fix it ticket he's like its a ticket. I just got a ticket in january in my cobalt LS for reckless driving so it was said on the ticket(but I was doing donuts in an empty parking lot). So I was pissed about that then later on he's like theres no fine just fix it.
ok same day today as I was going on my lunch I went around the same way there and behold is a bike cop hiding in the middle of the circle. I saw him, I wasnt speeding I just continued on my way theres like 5 cars behind me in a two lane one way road so I was like ok minding my own business when I look in my rear view mirror and who do I see coming up weaving in and out of the streets passing up cars?? the damned bike cop. He gets on my ass and keeps on me I was waiting for him to pull me over for the same thing but I turned on the street and he did'nt follow. Thankfully...I didnt want anymore trouble. What is up with these damned bike cops?? I have been by many police officers with my car and they didnt give me trouble for my exhaust. To me its a petty ticket.

I Hate cops who pull BS stuff like that to meat their quota.
They are just on a power trip they get off on being aholes.
Oh if you havent notised im kind of bitter.
Ive gotten busted in 2 speeding traps going a couple of MPH over and both were in the same month. Then I got in a acendent (not my fault) and the cops were to lazy to do a report so my inchurance sided aginst me.
Long story short : 330 a month inchurance thanks OCPD (coughs a$$ holes)

Damn dude that sucks im from LA but i go up there every now and then is it the bike cops off of chester because i always speed right there but they just stare at me like theyre crazy

Just to let you know, you have the RIGHT to drive to a well lit, safe, populated area before you pull over, if you are being pulled over. As long as you don't drive 100 MPH to that area, than you should be fine. Don't always believe what you hear...even if it IS a cop.

I was on the way to work a month ago in my Z06. I pass through three school zones on my way though a little rural town on my way into the town where I work.

I have put 44k miles on the Z without a front license plate on it - no problems, no stops.

This particular morning, there is a Illinois State Patrolman sitting in the first shool zone. I am very cautious in the shool zones becuse of all the kids running about, so I was going 25 or so - no problem there.

However.....When I am approaching, I see that there are TWO LEO's in the car, and they are talking looking excited and then they both start putting on the big-round brimmed hats.....

Here we go I thought......

They pull me over and the driver, a very young man about 23-ish apporaches and asks for my "papers".

I give it all to him, insurance, license etc. He was very polite, and explained that he was stopping because I had no front tag.

Dang. Well- he wrote me up a warning ticket, so the next officer would be able to know I was warned and then let me go. I asked the fellow if he was new and he said yessir, my first day. It took him 15 minutes to write up the ticket, as the older officer had to approve everything etc.

Oh well - at least it did not result in any kind of fine.

I put on the front plate (reluctantly) and now I have the ugly plate syndrome on the front of my Z.

It is really going to hurt to have to pop-rivet the plate holder into the fascia of the Cobalt....

I used to live in northeastern new york. cant stand the winters. everything gets destroyed up there from the salt and everything rusts out from the snow and sand.

other note.. i would of told the cop to kiss my ass and f off.. im sorry but the DB level of the exhuast isn't loud enough to grant a ticket so he needs to get on his high horse and ride to another area.

yea.. sounds like the cops in your area blows ass.. when im out in my stang i have on multiple occasions had cops drive up beside me and tell me to rev the **** out of it so the can hear some good exhaust.. they just smile big and keep on going.. its something with import/dometic compact they dont like

 

I have read on another forum somewhere, a guy with a Civic hatch (lets save the Honda hate for another time) polished up his stock muffler so it looked aftermarket. He was pulled over and given a ticket I want to say in less than 3 miles of driving. Yes, this was over in California as well.

Sucks to hear it man. I have many friends over in Cali that tell me horror stories about things like this.

The Apex-i was truly designed for Turbo applications... It would be loud as **** on a SC or NA Car.

I have one and it's hardly loud, but that is only with a turbo... Most of the sound stays in the Ex Manifold...

 

in other words it would be an amplified fart
