purchasing headlights? beware.

Look out if you purchase a headlight from a third party vendor, GM recently switched a slightly (and I mean slightly) "smoked" style headlight. I recently noticed that the passenger side headlight looked like it was slightly more tinted than the drivers side (drivers side was crystal clear). Sure enough according to a dealership (thanks Joey) locally here the newer Cobalt headlights are slightly tinted and it was replaced under warranty.

Just keep that in mind if you plan on doing any headlight mods.

The plastic is smoked? or the chrome shroud is smoked?

The SS headlights always have been smoked, and it is just the outter plastic.

When i bought my headlights to do the headlight mod early last summer the ones i got were off a non-ss and now tinted.

Not sure if it is all the headlights that are tinted or still jsut the SS.

My headlights are clear as crystal. I drive a base model, must be the SS models only.

My SS/SC has slightly smoked lights. My brothers LT has crystal clear lights. Mine actually look a tad yellowed.

Hmm interesting, because I know there weren't two different part numbers as far as the SS/SC and base models go.

The headlights that came with my (early 05) SS had a tinted cast to them . Kinda broze'ish looking . The new OEM headlights I got off ebay to replace my black headlights are completely clear . At first I was kinda scratchin my head , the difference was so slight that I wrote it off and figured it was just in my head .....guess it wasnt
