Yes it's like the Cobalts sister car....just like the sunfire was the sister car of the cavalier

Yeah its the Pontiac Pursuit which is the same platform as the cobalt.

So far only in a sedan, and no word (at least from what I've heard) of a GT or GTP.

Yep.. Canada only.

I really don't how it can be all that profitable to make a canada only car, but lots of companies seem to do it.

Have any of you Americans heard of the Acura 1.7EL? Just a rebadged civic SI with some leather.

well i think gm is kinda dumb to do another sister car, the cobalt and ion are essentially the same, no need for another freaken car from the same platform same engines so on and so forth. thats just a waste of money. not bashing the redline, but so far it hasnt performed to what gm expected sales wise. performance wise it has surpased what gm claimed.the ion alltogether hasnt sold well from reading, so introducing another delta car will not be a smart idea, unldess gm plans on killing the ion in 06 and introduce the pursuit. then n e one who owns a redline has a collector car.

Not really, the Canadians really like Pontiacs and will buy anything that has the Pontiac logo on it

Canadians buy more small cars then Americans (percentage wise). Thats why we also have the Optra, Optra 5 and Optra wagon in addition to the Aveo, Cav and Sunfire.

Impalas sell alright here, not as well as the states though. Monte Carlos.... I just don't understand. I hate them, and they don't sell well at all here, but down there they are well liked?

And yes Canadians like Pontiac. Sunfires and Grand Ams are all over the place. Maybe Pontiac has a higher brand status in Canada then in the states. Here Pontiacs are definitely seen by the average consumer to be better cars then Chevrolets, don't ask me why.

because, supposedly, they're marketed that way.

Pontiac is, in theory at least, to chev what mercury is to ford; although in the last decade or so, it's basically just different styling.

I haven't seen cobalts around here yet, let alone pursuits, although i'd imagine they shouldn't roll out too far apart. We could order them all at the same time anyways.

I think it may, eventually. 2005 is the last year for the Sunfire and they need something to fill the gap here in the U.S. I've also read that dealers are putting pressure on GM to bring it here, and I wouldn't doubt that some consumers (myself included) are letting GM know they'd like to see it here.

I've had a few thoughts along those lines too. Are there any legal issues involved with importing cars from Canada? I would assume those Pursuits could be switched from KM/H to MPH, since the U.S. cars can probably do the opposite :P

I am surprised we don’t have any Pursuit members on here yet. Are those cars selling well up there?

They just started to roll into dealerships over the past few weeks. Actually I haven't seen a Cobalt or Pursuit on the Road yet in Toronto. Except for the 5-speed sedan I took for a test drive. My salesman told me he has sold a sedan though.

pontiac and gmc have some big factories in canada...im pretty sure those two are all canadian assembled, which would lead to rooting for the home team as well as cheaper shipping

I'm not sure which 2 you are referring to, but both the Cobalt and Pursuit are made in Ohio (even if bought in Canada).
