Radar Detection in the Car
Radar Detection in the Car
So I know the best place to put a radar dector is in the middle of the window but how much signal would you lose is you put iton the left next to the pillar?
Depends on how high. You need it high enough to clear your head, seat, and windshield wipers, but below the dot matrix on the windshield. As long as you have a clear shot front and back you should be alright though. However, since you aren't in VA where they are illegal, I would just leave it front and center where it is proven to work best.
The best setup, hands down is the escort 9500ci which does require prof install. But it is a radar detector/laser detector and jammer the photo and speed trap notification. Once installed escort provides updates as each state installs more of this crap. I have one in my other car and it WORKS so well I feel naked without it. Go to their website and read about it.

would much rather use 1500 to buy rims or sum coilovers....
Yeah if they pool their money together!
What is everyone's vote on putting the radar detector high or low on the windshield? I have mine lower as possible and center as per the instructions... I see some people have them high... Is this right?
I don't just think this product works, I went out and tested it and it works like charm. And NO I don't have any vested interest in this product, get any kick backs for referals or anything else.
"Well officer I know I was going 80, but looks at my rims"
Well to each his own. I always marveled at people who will spend literally thousands and thousands on rims, tires , stereo but balk at something proven that not only saves money on tickets, also on points on their license and insurance premiums. IMHO. Anyway I doubt anyone bought a cobalt ss turbo to go slow in.

picks up every cop in town
Whats the purpose for it?Its showing you the same thing thats on the detector itself.Sure it blacks out the display on the unit, but it automatically dims the display at night anyways so the person behind u dont see it.I find it easier to look at when its on top.
So the only chance you have on picking up/jamming that beam is to mount your detector as low as possible on the dash.
I live in VA where they are illegal. During the day not much of an issue as you can barely see the it by the mirror. Now at night not seing the lights by the mirror is a big savior. Plus I don't have to reach to mute it if there is a cop near by.
oh,ok i gotcha.I didnt realize u were in VA.
One day, he just says, "hmmmmm, i think im going to buy a $1,500.00 radar detector."
Besides...if you're driving over 100 on a highway even if the cop doesn't get a signal (jammer) he's going to give you a ticket anyway...and radar detectors aren't any better than good driving sense.
