I just went and checked. They only took part of my harness..... Not I gotta replace the whole damn harness. $200. Bright side though is that I get to look at a new radio.

Do NOT go through insurance... It will cost you no more than $200 to have the window replaced. Look online for auto glass companies near you. They vacuum out your car and everything. This happened to me once but it is not worth insurance spiking up.
I don't think the radio can be used on any other car except maybe for spare parts. I read some where that the radio will only work in that perticular car. It maybe tied in to the computer. But you can't just plug it in to another car. Check your owners manual I think thats what it says. Of coarse the idiot who stole it doesn't know that.
I think with all that damage take it to a dealer or body shop.

I cant speak for Cobalt radios, but I know the radio in my Vue swapped for the radio in my Redline without a hassle, plugged right in and works fine. As long as the theft deterent was not activated, it will work just fine......
As for not going through your insurance, why the hell wouldnt he?
Unless you got some BS insurance companies, your rates will not be increaesed because of a not-at-fault claim. Now if you had one every other week it may be different...
They will replace everything that was damaged, put a new radio in etc. The only bad part is you probably have a $500 dollar decutible like most people. In this case you could take the check from them, get the dash, door, window fixed, bank the rest if there is any left and order an aftermaket radio, or find an original one on ebay. I picked up a six disk factory in dash for my wifes vue for $35 shipped, works flawlessly. I would imagine though, a new radio at a stealership is going to be in excess of 600 dollars.

sorry about the delayed response.
My aftermarket radio was stolen.
They didnt take the entire wire harness. I was able to order a part for it from metra for $15
Buddy of mine gave me his old pioneer. I had to buy a harness for that @ $25
new dash kit cost me $10
new window was $200.
Today I am installing it. had to go out and buy crimpers and zip ties.
Thanks for teh supportz

you don't have free glass insurance? I would have told the company it broke in cold weather when you slammed the door. With the prices you're paying for those parts, it seems like a good alternative.
