Ram Air

Is there any possibility that a FUNCTIONAL Ram Air hood could be made for our cars. Would it even be worth it?

not likely its gonna work with a ram air hood, on the ss/sc because our air filter is down in the wheel well, if you take out your drivers side fog light, you can make a ram air setup, just run some dryer hose from the foglight opening into the airbox, you would have to cut a hole in the front of the airbox to fit the dryer hose in, but it would be ram air.

But for the 2.4 SS this would be considered Ram Air?

Agreed, but YoAdrian has a 2.4.

It will allow "cooler" to go to the filter. You still might get heat off the hood.

To truely make it a ram air, you would have to make an intake that would seal around the opening under the hood to keep the air around the filter. But if you are only pulling air from that opening, you might have more restriction.

Actually yes a Ram Air hood would work. The Fuse bow would most likely get relocated to the passenger side where there is that big gap. This is one from the GM Small Car Bash, its owned by GM of course.

Looks good Philco. Did you notice any change in power or throttle response?

No Its not worth it unless you are just going for the look. A cold air kit would be just as or more effective. You would have to be going over 100 mph to maybe see any pressure build up. For the money you could get an intake and another item like a catback, header, cams, tuning etc and see real gains.

The RK Sport one is not as intrusive. Courtesy of DomesticDemonSS

There really wouldn't be any noticable gains. A heat extraction hood on the other hand...well atleast for the 2.0

Ram Air Will Not Make addequate HP gains to offset the drag of the new "Scoop"

There is a CF heat extraction hood out for the Cavy that I really wish they would produce for the Cobalts.

Here it is in the black. Courtesy of distillion's gallery.

WOW! That's the first time I've actually seen a Cobalt sitting beside a Cavy. The Cavalier is actually quite a bit longer then the Cobalt, but the Cobalt looks bigger if every other aspect. Hahaha, never really realised the size difference.

I mean I don't think he really cares that the drag from the intake will neglect any hp gains, think he bought it more for style.
