Rear drum to disc conversion
Rear drum to disc conversion
I'm considering swapping LSJ brakes onto my rear drum Cobalt at some point. I want to keep the 4-lug hubs. I know the drum brake rear twisting beam doesn't accept disk brakes as is but Powell makes and adapter plate. I was wondering if maybe there was also a way to use the LSJ rear twisting beam but still keep the 4-lug setup. Anyone with experience with these your words would be appreciated.
Are you the one with access to a cnc? You could easily fab a bracket and keep your existing rear beam if that were the case. I had someone fab some z06 brake bracket for my other car.
Yeah, if it can just be made out of a piece of flat I have access to a guy with a laser table through work. Whats the best way to figure out the dimensions or are they available somewhere?

Thanks all, good info. I pulled out the front LSJ calipers that I had bought previously though never closely inspected and of course the boot is ripped on one of the cylinders. Is it worth trying to rebuild these or just buy some store brand calipers?

They arent super hard to rebuild, store ones arent crazy expensive. Thats your call.
Or I can stay 4X100, keep the 8 wheels I already have, and run steelies when I want to burn off cheap tires or go into sleeper mode. I'm staying 4-lug, true to the origins of my shitbox.
yeah 4x100 is a lot more choices in wheels. my LS is my project and my SS/TC is my summer DD.
