If you wanted a fast car, you shouldn't have locally purchased a fully loaded Cobalt... You should've factory-ordered a custom one, with many things taken out, had in manual windows (so things are still functional), had no backseat, maybe no front seat (if you plan on getting lighter seats yourself, or just tie in a folding chair just messin) and many of the other changes you wanted, and you could've saved yourself some money while you were at it... No dealer markup, and no paying for the extra features you're stripping out... Not to mention you don't have to strip it out yourself! Any factory can give you a car that's basically stripped to the bone if you're willing to buy it.

From what I recall there's only a difference of about 15 lbs between Base and 1LT with cloth seats. I'll sacrifice 15 lbs for the conveinience of power windows and keyless entry.

well i reduced 110 pounds from my car already removed everything from the to seats in the front to the rear of the car. rear seat belts,2 rear speakers, rear seats, spare tire, all the insulation in the trunk, rear deck pad, rear head rest. went to the track prior the weight loss and ran 14.5 and after the weight and loss and a filled in rear tranny mount (poly) later i ran a 14.1 in the quarter.so weight loss and mount very worth it!!!!!!

Here's a little reminder for everyone here who wants to reduce weight of their Cobalts:

Less weight = Less Traction

This is the reason our launches are so much worse than equally matched heavier vehicles. If you want to lower the weight youre going to need to buy mounts, torque braces, slicks, or anything that can help reduce your wheel hop.

you can get a lightweight battery. I just bought one of these:

http://www.batterymart.com/battery.mv?p=ODY-PC680

Weighs about 15 lbs, so I think that's about a 20 lb savings. I know people who run it all the time in their cobras with no problem. Also, since it is a sealed acid battery (SLA) as opposed to our stock battery, there is no need to vent the battery. This and the spare tire delete are going to have me down ~50-55 lbs.

Our powersteering is electric, so it doesn't take load off the engine And if you really want to eliminate it, good luck
