refinacing car
Mines 8.5%, third auto loan at the time and kinda iffy credit. I checked into refinancing a year later with one credit card payed off, and with one less loan in the books, the best I was offered was 8.9%. Guess I'll be waiting a little longer...
I have previous employment experience at financial institutions, I can help here. Check the value of the car 1st. If you owe more than what the car is valued at it will be nearly impossible to refinance. Try to refinance at a Credit Union, not a bank. Credit Unions have lower interest rates. You can refinance at any time. I have worked up a loan on Monday morning, and the customer purchased the car Saturday night. Try to get GAP insurance. My credit union offers it for free as long as the automobile financed is over $10,000. My credit union will also finance 100% of retail vaule. Before you let some one do a credit check find out what percent of retail, used car, or trade in value they are willing to finance. A bank I worked at once would only finance 80% of used car vaule. Also since it is a refinance ask if they are going to consider the car used when they work the loan up. If you have any more questions please ask. I did auto loans for 2 years.

My new job I start on July 10 I will be advising people on how they invest thier money. I like finance. I can quote interest rates. It drives my husband crazy. I am constatly telling people they should do loans here, they should open this type of account specifically. I hate seeing people pay more interest than they should, and not earn as much interest as they can.

It depends on so many factors. Did you file bankruptcy? if so, how long ago? If not, have you paid off the outstanding debts on your credit report? if so, how long ago? If not, you probably won't be able to refinance for a lower rate until you pay off those outstanding debts and spend about 24 months being extremely careful about your credit.
650 is the average persons credit score in the U.S.A. That'll get you about 7-10% on a car loan these days. To get a better rate you'll have to get it up by at least 20-25 points and have some positive credit history to show that the bad times are behind you.
And no credit union around is going to give you a 0% finance rate. If you wait for the manufacturer's deals on financing, that's the time to buy.
Banks are becoming choosy about who they give loans to because so many people have gotten into trouble with their adjustable rate mortgages (35% of all homeowners have adjustable rate mortgages, and they're not doin' so well these days with the feds upping the interest rates), and their variable interest credit cards. If you've got credit cards the best way to boost your credit is to make sure they always have low balances, make sure you're never late on your payments, and try to always pay more than the minimum.
And with financial aid rates skyrocketing this year, it's no longer a really good idea to be taking out any more than you absolutely have to if you're a student.
I got financing thru GMAC in a smart beginnings program. Not sure if its a set rate or not and how to go about seeing if i can change it. Not sure what the rate is off the top of my head but its quite high
