Regret....
Like I said before I grew up in a different time. I remember the old chevy. Not the sorry shadow of it's former self it is today. Maybe I just want something different in a car now. Something chevy can no longer provide. In a wierd way this is kinda like a breakup for me. Some of you understand and some of you don't. I don't want to offend anyone. This is just conversation about a car and it's company.
Cobaltz sux azz. Most of you can't drive stick anyway posers
Before this pos came out you all drove cavaliers HA! Whats that say about you?
There, is that what you wanted. If we can't have a simple disscusion about the car you love so much then I guess I have to stoop to this level. Thanx for nothing.

Sure the GTI is a sweet car with a killer interior, awsome engineering, potent engine and amazing gearbox.......which costs a cool TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS MORE than the SS/Sc in canada.
Sure the Civic Si has an independant rear suspension and can probably (slightly) outhandle the SS/SC but the SS/SC can outrun the Si. It also has a kick ass gearbox...but the styling is a bit too "out there" for me...both inside and out...not to mention that the interior is rattle-fest 2006 (in the Si I tested). The motor is smooth but a torqueless wonder..I did not feel that I could relax when I drove it.....I have used my arms less in a rowboat with all the shifting and the high reving engine is cool at first...but gets super annoying after awhile. I liked the low end torque that the SS/SC had...the Si did not push you back in your seat like the SS/SC did.
Sure you could look at a WRX STI - about $50K in Canada
An Evo? Nope...cant get those here!
Tiburon V-6? Again...not unless you get the top trim level which is 30K in Canada.
Acura RSX-S? Haha...your looking at over 30K easy for a Type-S and around 28K for the gutless 160Hp RSX in Canada.
You have to judge the SS/SC for what it IS nather than what it has no intention of being.
The SS/SC is:
A very quick sports coupe with a well engineered, potent, torquey engine and well suited drivetrain FOR THE MONEY.
A comfortable, well optioned interior (leather, AC, very good audio system, Cruise) with good fit and finish.
A very good handling car considering the fact that it has a twist-beam rear end.
A proven platform based on the Opel Astra with a proven drivetrain from the Saab 9-3.
A great car FOR THE MONEY!
The SS/SC is NOT:
An entry level sport-lux like a VW.
A cutting edge platform with cutting edge engine/trans/doodads like a VW.
An S2000 (which is a street legal RWD track car).
An EVO/STI (which are street legal rally cars).
Are there faster cars out there? Yes.
Are there better handing cars out there? Yes.
Are there cars with flawless fit and finish out there? Yes.
Are there more luxurious cars out there? Yes.
Can I get any of this for 23.5K (what I paid for my car with sunroof) cdn? Haha!.....No!!
Do I think that the SS/SC is the best car in it's class? Based on how I drive, yes it is. Might not be for you....but you are not me

The SS is MAJOR bang for the buck you pay . Ive had mine for 9 months and 22K miles , its not been perfect , but I love it just as much as the day I got it .
FYI on the VW's - I like the Golf/GTI's , so this isnt a flame . I worked at a VW/Audi/Saturn dealer for 4 years , the higher VW price and higher quality interior IMO also carries a reliablity report AT BEST , as good as a Chevy .
As for the Mazdaspeed3 , it better be superior to the Cobalt SS . It will be thousands more on the sticker price

A few things that I like:
- Quiet steel kicks ass!
- Supercharger instead of a turbo. Different is good.
- 18" wheels from the factory.
- Leather inserts with the SS stitching always gets compliments.
- Good value to performance ratio.
- Pretty good fuel economy.
Dislikes:
- Front seat won't move up. Hmmm? I don't know why they wouldn't put that in. Oh well!
- There are a LOT of cobalts on the road (non SS and the like). It reminds you that you are still driving a supercharged econo-box.
- HUGE ******* turning radius! Thing turns like a truck.
Would I buy another after this one. No, I like to drive different cars... but I would consider buying another American car.

It is fast. I guess I'm just frustrated with it. My sunroof button fell of 2 weeks after I bought it. The paint looks like SH*t even though I take good care of her.
The interior trim is a scratched up.
I take very good care of this car. Oh not to mention the wheel paint is flaking. I know 20k right? but come on.

The sunroof bezel should be resolved now too , mines never budged a inch so Ive never had to visit that issue .

The sunroof button has been an issue...just superglue the darn thing and be done with it!! I have heard of people having problems with the silver interior pieces scratching...i guess you could just repaint them and then clear them...that's probably what i'll end up doing once it gets bad enough.
As far as peoples paint? Mine looks great!! Yea there is orange-peel, but is thats all that's wrong....

sorry guys but im sidding with e-tool, i dont think he is bagging on anything he just wanted to vent his opinion, and like others have said "to him his own" this is a perfect example of that. and if you think he is a troll or anything your just letting him become one by lashing out at him.
w/e i felt like saying something on the matter, and e-tool good luck with the mazda, looks like a nice car, and if you go wiht the challenger, thats a throwback to the old ones, again an extremely nice car!

Why do you older guys remember history wrong all the time. Fact is Chevy has always been the biggest bang for your buck. They havent been the fastest all the time they have been the middle class and lower connection to the performance world. Remember the small block?
Dodge has always been cutting edge. Problem with cutting edge it doesnt always have staying power. Look at an old Belvedere. The car is way out there and its cool for a minute but Ill bet when you woke up in the early seventies and had one of those in your driveway you were pissed. Sure dodge hit homeruns with the Cuda Challenger and charger but look at the flops along the way. You guys think what dodge is doing today is cool but will that same car be cool tomarrow see aspen Intrepid and PT cruiser.
