Renting a Car
Renting a Car
Heres a question guys, my cobalt got hit in the back and now its headed to the shop. Now im 18 and on my parents policy, and the insurance company said I can get a rental car, am I allowed at 18?
Also if my parents rent the car in their name, and I drive it, am insured?

YOU cant get a rental, but they can get it and let you drive it as long as they get the insurance to cover it. I think you have to be at least 21 (with Enterprise) and 24 with most others...

I got a rental when i was 19 because my car was at the dealer, it was Enterprise.
and no, you would not be insured if you drove the rental, in your parents name.

my friends mom got into hit and her car got totaled to they got a rental car. my friend she was driveing it and she was 16 at the time and she hit someone with the rental car. they ended up buying the rental car.
I know that in NY, you can't drive any rental from Enterprise or Hertz or any major chain if you under 21. No matter weather it's your car or your parents, you are not covered. My own insurance would not even cover my rental
If you get hit and are not at fault... your insurance entities you to a rental... whether you are 18 or not. Technically it is the insurance company renting the car... not you. You shouldn't have any problems getting a rental while your car is being worked on. If you do... call your insurance company and raise hell.
