Retrofit: How to Fit Panamera Shroud?

Hey guys using the Panamera shrouds.......Did you just have to cut the whole back end off? I want to make sure even with modification it will fit before i hack mine up! They are so nice!

Thanks
Bob

its a real joy getting them to fit.. long story short, you have to cut about and inch or so off the back and I had to do some extra trimming on these "protrusions" on each bottom corner so they wouldnt hit the headlight reflector..

so thats what i trimmed on the shroud itself

i also ended up trimming part of the bottom and top of the headlight bezel itself to make for extra clearance for vertical adjustability to aim the headlights.

not sure if it makes a difference, but I used my panamera's on FXR's with 3" lens. fitment may be slightly different on a different projector. just an fyi i guess

this picture was when I just did shroud trimming and you can see how tight it gets clearance wise on the bottom, which is why I ended up trimming the headlight bezel there as well

Morimoto 6.0's.

I currently have an older version from 2009, believe they are Morimoto 3.0's not exactly sure. The 6.0's have a wider bowl and a much better foreground lighting system, combined with the xb35 is supposed to be much better for distance.

Im used to 5000k 55w ddms (ran them for more than 3 years in mini's no issues), so im not sure whats going to happen. What if found is that mine are super bright but have way too much foreground light which sometimes hurts my night vision, high beam is great though, i just feel like light is wasted on the pavement.

TRS says that 55w ballasts from ddm are barely more power than there 3Fives anyways so who knows. Good thing is the 6.0's have a much wider bowl so output should be much better.

I'd guess they are if you didn't burn the bowl of the projector, I could of swore I read a thread or 2 over on TRS's forum about 55watt ruining/burning the projector bowl.

Guys doing Corvette retros are running the new 75w. I saw that and was like because I had similarly read that 55's would burn.

I'm sure some can handle the higher wattage, just the mini's plastic and coating couldnt

Made a little bit of progress tonight, pissed though. Found out the set of lights, on the passanger side is aftermarket. (just given to me free from a friend no biggie) Heres how I know:

(even though thats the drivers in the oven, just showing progress!)

Oem is larger.

The aftermarket headlight had a loose reflector. The top push pin or whatever you call these stubborn things, is a different size than stock and fits back in, but comes lose too easy. I tried taking off the pin and swapping with stock but it just doesnt fit. Luckily ive got a few extra sets of headlights around the house.

275 degress, 7 minutes, 30 seconds to open every time!

Now the biggest part, which turned out being very easy, modifying the MASSIVE panamera's to fit, just like this: Cut 1 1/2 almost 2" off and ground down the bottom "stick out" pieces:

You can see the difference between stock and modded!
Fits like a glove, sorry for **** pic

Still have a lot more work to do, need to paint tomorrow, just doing krylon plastic fusion, a little scuffing no sanding, but will do matte black because the panamera's are open in the back so light will spill backwards, which would be a mess with chrome reflectors. Im also going to wrap from the rear of the shroud to the projector in aluminum foil tape, that did the trick last time....

Holy **** im tired and drunk
