There's a hot-to on keeping it there (sunroof switch) without takingit to the dealer

I've seen this happen a few times. What year is your car?

The only way i know how to possibly avoid this, is by making sure my sunroof seal is always clean and moisterized (mothers interior protectant!) And wiping out the sunroof seal area after a wash. I've had my 07 w/sunroof for a year now, and have pressure washed it numerous times, even in the winter, and haven't had a problem yet.

Sunroofs aren't suposed to be sealed units, they generally have a drain system in place though. In my old car they had four tubes that drained the corners of the sunroof, on in the front door jams and one behind each tailight. What eventually happened was the rubber nipples got clogged with crap. I eventually had to take a wire and run it through the pipes a few times which cleared things out.

Now I dont know if Cobalts have the same type of setup but again, there has to be drainage system so hoepfully thats all thats wrong.
