SC or TC?

I'm seriously considering buying a Cobalt SS, but I'm not sure whether I want to save a few bucks and get a SC, or spend the extra few bucks and get a TC. The car will be my daily driver, as long as the weather permits it. I'm wanting something quick and reliable!

My question is this: is the TC Cobalt worth the extra money compared to the SC version of the car? I don't know a whole lot about the cars, so I'm looking forward to your feedback!

It's going to be a personal preference that nobody can dictate other than you. Just do some research and come to a conclusion *COUGH* TC *COUGH*

both really good cars with their pros and cons

if you wanna make over 300whp easily go tc and do some boltons

if you wanna make 425whp get a ss/sc and turbo swap it

in the end they would both cost about the same...

The car probably won't be much more than 300hp, if that, when I'm done modding, since it will be my dd, but I still like to have some fun. Are either one of them better as far as reliability goes, or are they pretty much the same? From what I've heard, they're both pretty reliable, just wondering if one will outlast the other.

I appreciate the feedback by the way, thanks!

they are both really reliable... ss/sc might be a little less quirky far as random **** going out from what i've seen, but the tc comes with a better suspension from the factory. seen a bunch running strong well over the 100k mark

It sounds like I'm going to have to go test drive one of each and do a bit more research, they both seem to be awesome cars. Are you able to make around 300hp in a bolt-on ss/sc?

If you want reliability with power, either get a TC, go GM stage I with some bolts, or get a SC and go stage 2 or 3, with some bolts.

I would just buy the car i could find with the lowest amount of miles and is least abused.

300 whp is hard to do on the stock M62 supercharger but it can be done.

TC it can be done with a tune and downpipe.

Yea 300hp on a SS/SC takes a bit of work. Can hit 270 or so decently easy though.

In my opinion though, depending on your driving, the 270 from a supercharger can be equal to the 300 from a turbo, because the response is more immediate. Driving around town from 2-4k rpms super may be more enjoyable. Keep in mind i haven't driven a turbo cobalt, only other turbos, and i own a super so i may be biased. But in all honesty, if i was buying another one, and they were the same mileage i would save the money and buy a super again, no regrets. In the end, you will probably love both, and just like the own that will give you the least **** more. So get low miles from a good owner and be happy with your choice.

You guys have been a great help! Definitely learned a bit about both cars, but it's still going to be a hard decision. I'll make another post with pictures when I make a purchase!

After you get one, be sure to make a thread titled "hpt or trifecta?"

If you want a 300whp daily a LNF (SS/TC) is for you.

Ss/sc are a great car. I have a 173k miles and still running great on Stock clutch!! The ss/tc does have upgraded suspension and more desirerable rims and seats to some. Those can all be bought for a few thousand. If those matter to you lol. I love my stock seats though. The turbo cars make 300+easier although supercharged cars have a better power curve IMO and can be made much much faster with a turbo swap kit or tvs. Lot of opinion and info out there. Either way just make sure you look around even on here there are some very good cars for sale pre modded
