In the manual it says i should have a shift light that will pop on when it is time to shift? I see where it goes in the instrument cluster, but myne has never clicked on since i have had the car.

 

I have seen it pop on once or twice but not often.

 

I have yet to see my light come on also. Weird

SilverSS - Where you at in Tampa? I have yet to see another SS in this area. I live in St Petersburg in the Gandy/4th St area.

 

I asked the same thing when I first got mine. oh well

 

they talked about this light months ago.......i think they said that the light doesnt work on SS ....only base and LS with manual.....if i remember correctly

 

Im actually in Oldsmar, i have seen another silver SS exactly like myne around here a few times. What color is yours?, We should roll together when its conveninet (to the track, meets etc.) We need to wait for more to come out around here before we can get meets, but if you wanna roll let me know, that would be tite!!

 

Mine's yellow, but we should definately meet up and roll. Hopefully we'll get some more in the area because I feel like I'm the only one here.

 

i have the base and mine always goes on if i shift late

 

this appears to be an issue with the shift lights. mine has never came on either. maybe we should start contacting the dealers

 

The factory shift light comes on to let you know when to shift for best fuel economy. Thet would be annoying on a SS.

 

The Canadian model of the Cobalt doesn't come with a shift light but I'm assuming it should come on around 3k or so for best fuel economy...I'd be curious to know where it comes on and try tailoring my driving to that for a while and see if my fuel consumption changes.

i can see the shift light thingie on my automatic.......it just never comes on.......

 

Earlier threads covered this. The Cobalt brochure also covers this. The light to tell the driver when to shift the manual transmission is not enabled in the SS/SC. -- laborsmith

Read the manual.
Theres instructions to turn it off I believe.
