Shorty Antenna Probs For 2007

well antenna x makes the antenas for the cobalt and they claim the 05 06 will fit the 07. This is the one on ebay for like 14 bucks shippped. anyways to make a ong story short they dont fit th e 2007s. after u unscrew your antenna the threading on the 7 is fatter (larger) than the 06 so please be aware before buyying them from antenna x. I have sent an emal and well guess what no reply

and by the ay i have no clue why the 07;s have a bigger antennea screw thingy?

That's what y'all get for buying cheapo antennas... my Shorty antenna fit my SS/NA perfectly... and transferred right over to my new SS/SC with no problems.

Its Not the case>> The newer cars have a Fatter Screw they are not the same & I dont Buy Cheap! My wifes Car was Last month Build Of 2006 Line & my car was Built oct 2005! Same radios same everything but She Has a SS/na! You Can do what Im Doing & Just Tap the Hole in the antenna to Fit Yours!
On a Side Note LSJPUP aka Josh Tried it on his car it fit No Problem! Simply go to pep boys or what ever & tap it out Bigger is the easiest way!

See the Laser Blue Cobalt SS in the background >> Thats my Wifes it was made in June 06

See the Shorty I have On My car >>> IT WILL NOT FIT on Her Car!

Only thing I can Figure is >>She got the 07 Radio & Stuff Because of Build Date & GM on the 07's Has Changed the Size of the Thread Bolt on the Mount!

2007 have a 7mm base.
Earlier years have a 6mm base.

Buy or "find" a Honda Element antenna and drill and tap it to fit either 6mm or 7mm for your year. Looks great and was cheap.

not quite.

There is a split in 2006.
Earlier made 2006 cars will have the 6.5mm shaft base. Later build ones will have the 7mm base. There is no definitive split known based on the date code so you MUST MEASURE YOUR SHAFT before you buy a new antenna if you have an 06. Depending on the size depends what to buy. All 2007+ use the 7mm base though, so do any replacement bases sold by GM.
