The happiest day of my life, Feb. 24 2006. I finally got my 2006 cobalt SS supercharged.
I factory ordered it and waited 5 months to get it. The day she arrived was a glorious day.
The laser blue metalic glimmering in the sun. The recaro seats and black leather were perfect. I had the car for two and a half days. And today at 11:10 am I was rear ended by a Ford F 350 givingy me yet another reson to hate that blue oval. So with that said does any body know how long it takes for body parts for those cars yet. And what are the chances that the frame has been compromised. I would really hate to wait another 5 months to get it back.

 

how fast did he hit you? Depending on availablity parts aren't typically stocked and have to be special ordered you could be looking at almost a month before everything is pieced together.

I hate hearing this crap. I feel like i almost don't wanna get the friggin car for the fact that soo many ppl got there cars F'd up within the 1st week they got it!!! sorry to hear tho man!

imagine calling your insurance agent and be like yah... I know I just got my policy and everything but I already got a claim, I was rear ended and ***** going to cost me thousands.. ready for the police report ticket #?

 

that blowa, i just got my 05 backed into by a woman in her chevy silverado 2500. her trailer hitch took out my drivers side front bumper. hood, bumper, fender, everything. It took the autobody place three days to do it once they had all the parts.

 

Do you have any pictures? Someone could probably tell you if it totalled and what not by looking at a picture...My guess, If the truck was going very fast at all then theres a good chance the frame is bent etc.

I have been in fear of the same thing happening as I have had my old Tahoe for 7 years & not a scratch on it & this Cobalt is my first NEW car & I figure someone will slam me but as long as I live thats all one can ask & then milk there insurance for all they are worth

Now depending on where you live if the car has more than $5000 damage you will have to carry a damage disclosure on the title & now days $5000 is minor

 

My wifes SS n/a got hit about 2 weeks ago. Guy came through a red light while she was turning Left. So far it up to around $8,500 . Basiclly the entire front end has to be replaced

hood
both quarter panels
both lights
radiator
AC compressor
air box and duct
Air cleaner and all duct work associated with it
the sub frame has to be checked and possible straightended
both doors have to be repainted
new front bumper
new front grill
the underside of the fender wells (the blck part between the wheel and engine)

The list goes on for about 4 pages! The shop said it would be about 21-25 days to repair repaint and to test everything out.



And we got her car in December!!

 

That Sucks!!! Some Jerk Back in to the front of me in a parking lot. But he only hit the bumper I thought he took out my right fender. Easy fix for me. Hope all goes well for you!

 

you got yours the same day i did. .... i might cry if that happened. especially since i would expect you treated that new car like a new baby.

ug... doesnt take much for a big truck to demolish a cobalt. :S

 

Thats terrible. but not the only one! I had 1100kms on mine before the freak hailstorm did $5000 dmg. Don't fret too much, it all works out in the end!

 

I went to the dealership today they said i probably wont have it back until somtime in May.
The part that made me the most angry was all the guy said after he hit me was "If we not all driving those plastic cars they wouldnt break so easy" I was like Buddy you hit any thing with a 1 ton ford, its gonna break. I wanted to deck him but i'm a girl and can't punch very hard. So i would probably hurt myself more than him.

 

Nah, I imagine you'd have caused some immense pain to him...

 

you should have came back with "well if we all had an IQ over 20......I wouldn't have gotten rear ended"

P.S. You definately shouldn't have punched him; but a nice kick to the gonads would have gotten the point across.

 

Good news i guess. They did a preliminary adjustment and so far they say only 1700.00 damage. They said they are gonna break it down and see if there is more damage then thay are seeing but so far 1700.00 is not so bad i guess it's just the waiting to have it fixed now that sucks.

 

I was rear ended by a F150 and it did a bit more damage but it only took a week to get the parts. May is crap and I would tell them so. Mine was still driveable and from the sounds of it so should yours so why give it up until they get the parts?

 

Just yesterday there was these retards that were on the by-pass and they started goin in to circles flippen each other off and my best friend right in the middle of it all. she said if they would have hit her she would have kicked somebodys butt....people need to learn to drive!

I was rear ended by an F350 Super Dutty Dully that was going 60pmh when he hit the back of my Dodge Neon RENTAL car. I was the second car back at a red light. I ended up in the middle of the intersection. the car infront of me made it all the way threw the inteersection and the Neon was about 6 feet shorter then it used to be! I spent 2 weeks in the hospital and the guy that hit my said " Sorry man, you ok?" I told him "No" and he said "Oh Come on, I didnt hit you that hard." What an AZZ!

Atleast they didnt have to cut you out of the car and all.
