Some G85 News

Chevy seems to have finally added the G85 Performance pakcage to the Chevy.com site

http://www.chevrolet.com/cobalt/index.jsp

Its not on the front page for the cobalt, a good sign that it will be available for the 06' year, in normal numbers.

It was never on the Chevy.com site before just Gmbuypower, ect.

I'm sure there will be some major updates to the cobalt section in july once the sale for the 05' models is over july 5th

Ah.. Good find. That's certainly a step in the right direction. It's no longer a whisper on the site. So many people and even dealers had no idea bout what the G85 package even was. It's like GM didn't even WANT people to order it.

I hope they really can ramp up the production on the SS's and get be able to meet the demand this time around.. and hopefully the cars get to the dealers before fall comes. People are missing out on summer driving!

I wish we could also get a list of quirks they fixed for the '06 model that those of us with '05 models still have and don't know about yet! hehe

That's cool. Even though it wasn't listed under that section until now, you had the option to choose the package on the 'build a car' months ago. At least this is a step in the right direction.

Yes they are. There is a site that tracks all domestic auto production and it shows 06 SS on HOLD. I have the link on my computer at work, I will post the link tomorrow. I don't believe it is because production has not started. If so, wouldnt it show all 06 vehicles on hold? I read that it is a parts issue.
Also, I read in 3 other places that GM cancelled 400 05 SS orders.
I believe someone posted recently here that their order was cancelled.
Can anyone confirm???

I don't think GM was preparred for the amount of orders for the SS.
The dealers around here are grabbing all they can, maybe they are part of the problem as they seem to get them and people that ordered have still not received their cars. Around here they are getting sticker and a little more, which is rare in this area. They will not deal. They are even forbidden from driving them, no kidding, including the managers.

Well, take it for what it's worth, but in my case: The chev dealership i work at just got our first SS out of Two '05's allocated to our dealership at the begining of may. Mine was the 2nd one Had i not purchased my SS, it would have gone on the lot for 1k to 1500 above sticker. I guess that's what poor distribution and low production will do for a hot commodity. And yes, the keys were well guarded by the sales manager after delivery...i know cuz I asked to drive the 1st one and was DENIED. lol.

I don't doubt for a second the 05 model year cancellation on some orders is correct as there obviously wasn't enough produced for the demand.

I dont buy the not enough cars for demand BS, I do firmly believe that GM is having supply problems on the car, but they are also not picking up sold orders like they should and honestly there are a lot of SS's out there now and most dealers have been sitting on them for a bit now, the dealer I bought mine from we sat down and did a search for some and most were sitting on dealers lots 45+days, now G85's are rare, and I know my local chevy dealer that I test drove the car at still has his and it is going on +60 days and they were not asking sticker + or not allowing test drives, it's not a Z06 guys.....
Most SRT-4's in 03 were like that no dealers had them and if one did they were getting a premium, guys were driving to Florida to get them, yadda yadda and it was not till 04 that supply met up with demand, but it was rare to get a test drive in one or see one jsut sitting till late 2003 like nov/dec

The cancelled orders are correct, they are prob ones that werent even at a good status yet.

as for the 06' hold... production on the SS hasnt started yet, so there coulod still be a hold becuase of something but there wont be any effect becuase the cars arent being built so hopefully the hold comes off when they start building

Now is that the new SS coupe coming out or the SS S/C? It looks like the new car for '06 may be on hold.
