Ok guys.. 2 spare tire questions.. I just bought some 18's for my car.. They're Enkei 18x7.5's.. Stock sized low-profile tires.. I have a 2.4 SS which came with 17x7's factory..

1. Will the extra inch bump in size make my spare tire not work now? Obviously it was made to work with the diameter of the 17 with a tire.. But now it's an 18 with a tire.. Obviously it'll be a bit off.. But off enough to not work at all?

2. Do you need a spare for inspection? I took the spare out of my '85 GP, but never had to get it inspected.. I don't thin kit's necessary.. But just curious..

I just don't want to have it back there adding weight when I can't even use it.. lol. Lemme know!! Thanks!

 

the spare will work, its smaller than the 17s are anyways (hence the "space saver" part). the tires you have on the 18s will likley be about the same height as the 17s, they will be a lower profile making the sidewall smaller, but overall height should be the same.

 

I second that. The spare tire on all 5 bolt cobalts/g5's are the same.
