SRT 4 or SS

people always bash on the SRT-4 because it's a Neon, or because of the interior. but what they don't realise is
1) - you drive a Cobalt. it's the same class of car as the Neon, bottom-of-the-rung economy car. they both have nicer, faster models, but they're both based off of a cheap, plastic econobox.
2) - yes, the Cobalt's interior is nicer looking, but it's still a plastic heap. it rattles, squeaks, fades, comes loose, seperates..ect. oh, and don't forget, it's made with GM quality!
they're two different cars offering the same basic thing using different methods. QUIT BASHING OTHER CARS. yes, this is primarily a Cobalt forum. and yes, i would prefer the Cobalt. but, c'mon. you can't just hate on other cars like that, especially if yours doesn't really offer much more.

When buying my car it came down to the srt4 or the SS. If I was interested in going to the track alot and didnt care about anything but straight line i would have bought the SRT4. The only thing that I wish the cobalt was is turbo. Love turbos and their potenial.

And like one thread went real deep into, if you want it primarily for a drag strip car, neon because of its high end potential. If you want it for a daily driver that you can stomp on it at stop lights, go Cobalt. It is better off the line hands down because of the INSTANT torque of the SC. BOTH cars are very quick, and there isnt too much of a difference in the track times. They both require mods to make them much quicker. But they sure did stop production on those neons quick. So yours will be used... and abused. I would go with the cobalt because you can get one with low miles or new for a good price. If you want a new SRT-4, the caliber is ugly and weights a lot more. it puts out more ponies but the cobalt is much more rare and has a better sound system IMHO.
for the record, i don't bash other cars... what someone gets is up to them, has no bearing on me, and if that person is happy, then by all means... i have a lot of respect for the srt-4, i know it would smoke me all day long... but that doesn't mean i would drive one... there's a difference... i didn't see any bashing here of the neon... that's not bashing... it's just a harsh truth... unless you have a ferari, you have absolutely NO reason to look down on other people's cars... and if you do then, you're just a dick... most of us here are very accepting of other's cars, don't let a few people sway you one way or the other... also, keep in mind that this is a cobalt site, so, for one reason or another we all picked the cobalt... if you go to the srt site, the members will tell you to get the srt and they would never trade for a cobalt, etc...
i hate these threads...why would u ever ask that on a COBALT forum. Of course 95% of the answers you get will be telling you to keep the cobalt. It is all about preference. Personally, I could never fall asleep at night knowing that a dodge frickin neon was parked in my driveway. Sure the cobalt is not a very expensive car, but i never have people tell me my car is ugly, in fact, on a daily basis, i have people tell me "nice car" and "light em up" etc..

I'm pretty sick of that arguement "It's still a Neon" because you know what, if Chevy didn't change the name of their economy car, we'd stil be driving Cavaleirs (or however you spell it) and if I remember correctly, you all HATE it when someone calls your car a Cavvy. All Dodge would have to do is change the name of the neon when it did the redesign and you'd lose that arguement like others have lost the Cav arguement.
Overall, it was between a SRT-4 and a SS for me but what it came down to was there weren't any new SRT's available and I wasn't about t obuy a used one. Most SRT-4's I've seen have been beat on all the time, almost the same as the SS S/C. I ended up with the SS, obviously, because it was new, had a warranty, and I knew where it has been.

Personally the only thing I have against the SRTs is that they have four doors, and yes at the same time I realize that so do the EVOs the STIs and the M5s. They are nice, the racing seats have shoulder supports, and they are faster stock, but i'm a chevy guy.
I mean yes they are neons, but i test drove one and was impressed. I own a cobalt ss/sc and woudln't trade it for the world but I thought i'd post this up and see what you thought, I believe this guy has a beautiful SRT-4...

I don't mind the (NEON) SRT-4. I'd rather have a "Balt, but I respect the SRT-4.
The Caliber SRT-4 on the other hand rides like a truck and is one of the most repulsive vehicles I have ever seen. I think only the Aztec has been uglier. I would never drive one.
